A fool and his money....
I wont front. I think about money a lot. Not so much in having it but all the things I could do and people I could help with it, but even in day dreaming I try to keep my ideas practical. I 100% agree with the following:

Too many beers, 2 drinks too many, that one patron shot that you shouldn't have had.It can all open the flood gates to disaster via the Texting/Typing While Intoxicated. This incident happened last night but I was drinking. I was on the receiving end of the most unexpected, random ass TWI exchange in a while. Usually when drunk texting happens to me its a friend, with no sexual intent what so ever, its just random messages or pix of the drinks for the night.(Hey Jillz!!!)
Anyway, it's opening night for the NBA season and I'm watching the Lakers when my yahoo messenger goes off. A random generic "Hey" from an old former coworker. This isn't anyone I've ever chilled with outside of that old job so I'm assuming she has my info from when I was promoting parties. So the basic general small talk ensues then it devolves into her drunken confession of some sort of long standing desire for me. I'm like "huh?" This chick a) Aint my type and b)has some crazy rasta baby daddy. But I listen cuz I'm curious where she's going with this. Thank god for "Smileys" cuz I could reply to this rambling without actually saying anything. Fortunately she seemed to wear her self out before she got too explicit and said good night. I wonder if she'll realize what she was saying at some time today. SMh

Some will get the title now, some will get it later and some will miss it completely....
I'm laying here not sleeping and realized why I don't sleep as much because I spend a good portion of the night talking to myself. It's usually an internal conversation but I enjoy it because when I talk to myself there's never any confusion or misunderstanding. For whatever reason I get various statements, comments etc from people that make me think I'm communicating in a foreign language or that I need socializing 101. It gets frustrating to say simple straight forward things and get blazay ass replies that scream out "I'm really not that interested" or even worse, having my words taken for EVERYTHING but the most common and direct of meanings. And let's be clear this is only when communicating with women. But with me it goes a lil further. As I've said before I think of others in a lot of the things I do so if something is asked of me if it's not a huge inconvenience I'll do it. But often I'll hold a feeling of "was that really needed".
I know that I personally have a way of expressing myself that may take a degree of getting used to.Not because its rude or offensive or complex. It's just not the way average guys talk. I don't say what you "want" to hear if its not the reality of things. But I always say what I mean and mean what I say. A word I use a lot in speaking and in writing/text is "interesting". I've been told that that sounds like I'm disinterested......ooook.So when I was told that, I purposely cut back on using that word when chatting with my particular friend.I was told that when I say "Damn" in reply to less then positive news "it's not that supportive"....ooooook.I've been told by people how to talk or too make sure I talk more when meeting new people. Now I'm not the life of the party chatter box.Never have been, never will be but I swear to you this pisses me off to high heaven! I have friends and associates coming out the ass. I deal with a variety of people all day and across the damn country. Why does a nearly 30 yr old man need to be told how to speak?I wonder if it's just that curious female trait/need/characteristic that tells them they can change men?I don't know. What makes me double-take at this is that I never tell anyone to alter how they communicate with me in that manner. I let people do what they do. If your a lil excessive on the TMI I'll tell you and as I stated in the turn off blog I'd rather not hear tons of cursing but if you're not my partner its not so serious. Overall I let people be.
I know who's who and what to expect. Some people are more dramatic and over the top, some are more sexual and prone to TMI, some are bossy, some people give lengthy essays type statements, some drop ok with striking consistency, some are ghetto(even if they don't know it), etc,etc.....different communicative styles that I never try to change. And believe me, in the rare instances that I've attempted to spark change it doesn't happen. I change for others while others do what they do with no attempt of changing for me. No complaints. I just make mental notes. I'll always have myself to talk to. Since people act like I must be speaking backwards.
Limits on Love
Just how much does love factor into a relationship? How much will you overlook simply because you love someone? Does love make you bite your tongue for fear of making waves? Or does it make you act with more certainty because of what is at sake?
At this point of my life I know what Love is to me.I also know that while Love is a focal point to the relationship I want. It is not the be all end all of what goes into it. I will not settle in the areas of functionality and compatibility just because of the drug like effects of love.
Love has earned my respect by the number of emotional beat downs it's handed out to me over the years. The fact that I never stay down and only get stronger has forced Mistress Love to respect me too. But now as I stand and look out over the horizon preparing for the future. I know that I'm preparing for my next bout with love. Not as I have before with mere emotion, but with plans, wants, needs, expectations that will be met if I am to claim another partner.
This is life. No game. They say to make your next more your best move. And I seriously plan to do so. It's not that I will not be the same kind person I was before. But I was never one to really ask much of people. I asked for the bare minimum.(Funny how at times even that wasn't given) But now the stakes will be higher and so will the requirements. It's evolution I guess, but I feel good about it.

What the Hell man!?!? The WWE (always WWF to me) is truly on it's last legs if you ask me.
Last Monday Night RAW was hosted by Snoop Dogg......Really? 2 weeks prior by Al Sharpton!!! Al SHARPTON!!!!!! That was not a typo what is this!?!? It's bad enough that the story lines suck ass, that HHH and the Undertaker are showing their age, that the "young talent" is not that talented but give me a break!!!!

Sweetest Day???......Really????
Over at Mason Says I learned something new. Apparently, Valentines day has an lesser known sibling called Sweetest Day. It's meaning is as follows: Sweetest Day is an observance celebrated primarily in the Great Lakes region, and parts of the Northeast United States on the third Saturday in October[1]. Once known as a day to spread love and cheer to the unfortunate, this popular holiday in the northern U.S. is now known as a day to show affection to the loved ones in your life. It is described by Retail Confectioners International as an "occasion which offers all of us an opportunity to remember not only the sick, aged and orphaned, but also friends, relatives and associates whose helpfulness and kindness we have enjoyed.

Progress or Poor Choice???
I heard about this briefly last night and decided I wanted to ask y'all about this.A young woman, Nikole Churchill was just crown Miss Hampton University. That's Hampton U the HBCU in VA. Sounds cool right? Well Ms. Churchill isn't black she's mixed. 1/2 Italian (moms side) 1/2 Guam (Dads side). Now apparently there are students upset that she doesn't and can't represent the school properly because she's not black. The 22 yr old nursing major wrote a letter to President Obama a fellow Hawaiian expressing her feeling of how much progress this represents. I didn't go to a HBCU so I only hear stuff. I guess I can see both sides of this dispute. But also, hearing that she's from Guam reminds me of one of my dearest friends, Mz.J that represents for black folk at times BETTER then some black folk represent themselves.

Suspect Co-Signature
Co-Sign. You read/hear something you genuinely feel and agree with then you co-sign. It's a pretty simple concept that when applied properly shows support to your follow man, but there's always the flip side, i.e Suspect Co-signing. This is basically equal to cheerleader or as the homie Mz.J would say "jumping on the blogwagon."
Now before the "people do what they want" and "everyone has the freedom to do whatever" lines stop flying understand this isn't an attempt to stop this act or change minds about. I'm merely curious about it. My main curiosity, with a few specfic blogs in mind, is do folk really co-sign crazy,wild and at times reckless and possibly self destructive actions because they really agree with it or is it to in some way live through the blogger(s) in question?
For example I may come across a blog that says something like this.
"blah blah....I went to the club, had some drinks....blah,blah.....saw a couple guys I thought were cute...blah,blah.......ended up with a 2-3 phone #'s,blah,blah.....I ended up in the bathroom with one of the guys.....but he only ate me out...blah,blah....then I got real wasted and bumped into my homegurl who dropped me home...blah blah.....then I got a call from one of the other guys at the club, the cutest one...blah,blah....so he came thru and the sex was great blah......and I woke up not knowing where my underwear was......"
So there you have a wild and crazy night/morning.....then it may be followed by a series of comments saying....
"Damn girl that was a wild night.DO YOUR THANG!!"......."You so crazy.I wish I could get it in like you"......"OMG!LMMFAO!Sounds like you had a great night!" etc,etc,etc....
I wish I was over doing it but I'm really not. So after reading something like this I can't help but wonder would these people co sign just as much if this story was coming from a cousin, sister or close friend in their offline world. Is it simply cheering on what another does that they personally would never want to be caught up in? Could really be an degree of envy for the wild and spontaneous life?
Just wondering. When ever I see extreme actions of any sort not bring about a mixed response of both negative and positive it always catches my eye a bit.

"Good Hair" (Over)Sensitivity?
As most folk are aware, Chris Rock's movie Good Hair opened this past weekend.I haven't seen it as it's not a pressing priority but I heard that last week on Oprah a woman expressed her concern and feelings that she felt Chris was belittling black women. Her exchange with Chris went as follows:
I work in corporate America and I don’t want to be the butt of everyone’s joke when I walk out of a salon and my hair is nice and I have people walking up to me saying “Your hair is nice. Is it a weave? Is that Indian hair? ….It’s all mine”
Chris asks her if her hair is real and can he touch it. She let’s him
See, you can touch black women’s hair. The point is “we sit in the salon a long time. We don’t want you to touch it”. The trailer had me really upset. We are trying to promote positive black women and I felt as though you belittled us. When other races see the movie, they are going to laugh but they are laughing at us. If you had included other races, it would have been funny to us but it’s not.
Now to a degree I do see her point but I have to reserve judgment until I see the movie. I will say that at least from my vantage point black women are sometimes the worst and harshest critics of their fellow women. I guess I'll have to go check this out and see for myself.
