"Why you putting all my business in the street?!?"
This is a phrase I'm sure most if not all of us are familiar with.Resulting from someone or a group of someones speaking on your personal business to a public that really has no need to know that information. It happens for good information like how much money your making at your new job or for bad information like getting in trouble with the law. For the most part we are taught to keep personal business in the house but that really isn't the case anymore and there are 2 examples of this that really kill me. It's Power 105's Paternity Test Tuesdays and their Sunday Night Lock Down Love segments.
Now Paternity Test Tuesday is exactly what the title says. A couple, family or whatever the circumstance warrants come on the radio to air their dirty laundry and establish who, the man or men there, is the father. We all know how this works. Now this is sad to me regardless of the people involved but the fact that is 90% of the time young minorities yelling, cursing and carrying on does bother me a little more. More often then not it makes the "men" look like boys and the female seem loose and careless. There are times when one side or the other may some a little more common sense then usual but that's rarely the case. Now, children born out of wedlock.......hell born out of legit relationships is common.I'm not going to act like it's not. I have a female friends that I love who have done their thing to raise kids on their own but thank good that their not types to parade that shit across national airwaves.

In conjunction with that, Sunday night features their Lockdown love session where callers send messages of love and support to their incarcerated loved ones.(Boyfriends, fiancees, etc,etc.....). Now while I get the idea and fully understand the idea of it, the idea of dedicating a whole night to Prison shout outs again seems to reinforce the idea that the majority of our men end up in jail. Great idea.......questionable execution.
I know it may just be my perceptive but the continued display of some of our overblown stereotypes is a real issue with me. Infidelity, imprisonment......it's just a bit much to be blasting thru the radio waves.

I deteste this kinda stuff. Couples degrading themselves for entertainment and a free paternity test. Ugggh!

Its brainwashing and an assault on our culture meticulously designed to keep scared folk (read Black Folk) down, behing and afraid..
That's my biggest issue that is seems so common place to a lot of people.Like they don't see the problem with it.
