STOP TAKING SNEAKER MONEY FOR A VERSE That right there summed it up for me and had me thinking...that's what happened..they took hip-hop away from the streets...DJ Enuff mentioned that most of the music out now is being made for young kids..but I remember being 12 or so ...listening to the underground hip-hop stations and really absorbing the ish the rappers were saying...I don't believe age is an excuse for the type of music that our generation is being exposed to..its an excuse. I believe the real music will resurface, this is the first recession for our generation and the younger generation and it forces artists to once again speak on the struggle...hip-hop is not lost, it just took a detour...Love this post & Video!!!!
sneaker money for a verse ....lol. Real talk, im 23 so the golden era was kinda before i fell in love with hip hop.. but when i started listening 4real .i went back to the archives and i get it now. I was listening to some old jay the other day and wutang. they werent even doing 16 bars , it wasnt structured for radio it was just raw. but i guess the thing is balance. and its even worse in the south , generally no one is rocking with the real shit (smh) 4 the record i will not ride to soulja bot ever.
That's the difference between just being a "complaining old head" and being someone that misses better times. If have a higher standard of what it takes to be in the game then many folk today.
But hey the kids can have their Ron Browz and Piles. I've got my classics so I'm ok.
