Treated Myself while At Comic Con

Silver Surfer, Galactus, Mesphito & Shalla Bal

Jim Lee and Todd McFarlene got a lot of the big attention during the 90's when I was at my comic following peak. But for me the titles of favorite artist went to the man behind the Silver Sufer and all the major cosmic tales of the era, Ron Lim. I picked this piece up at NY Comic Con 2 weeks ago. It's a nice reminder of my youth and the imagery that helped shape so much of my imagination.

If you are younger than say twenty-five, you may not even know who Ron Lim is. For most comic readers over twenty-five, Ron Lim's name and artistic career are tied to a single period of time, a single company, and a single character. That period of time is the 1990s. That company is Marvel Comics. That character is The Silver Surfer. Ron Lim was a force at Marvel in the early to mid 1990s and it is unfortunate that he is practically invisible in today's comics.
