Okay, I'm mean so I sometimes say things like that without sugar to my friends. They know me like that though.
Depending on your relationship with the person, you just have to butter their ego a bit. "You're doing so well with your life, so much to offer. Make sure this person is bringing the same thing or more to the table!" Force them gently into questioning and having an epiphany about their situation.
Or get like me and just say it. Lol.
