I have very low tolerance for bullshit. The first sign of abuse (emotional/verbal or physical) I'm on it! Physical, we aren't working it out. I'm done. Children or no children, I'm out.
Verbal, we're attending counselling. If it's not helping after we've given it an honest try and it's unbearable to me then I'm out. I'm willing to give it 6 months to a year. I refuse to spend my life in fear or misery. REFUSE!
I know verbal would lead to physical for me, because I'm throwing back the verbal punches. I won't and never have allowed anyone to talk down to or spew rubbish without me firing off and that can be dangerous in any situation, but especially behind closed doors with a man! So I'd have to leave that behind.
