I'm sure most of u female readers have this image saved, bookmarked and as ya desktop or screen saver already. But I'm just throwing it out there along with this quotes from Sista Toldja.
Someone stated on Twitter yesterday: "Isn't it likely that Reggie was chosen by Black women to be on the cover of Essence?" I'd say absolutely. And those sisters made a choice that many of us don't agree with. I'm not angry, I'm let down. R. Kelly on the cover would be despicable. This is merely...disappointing.
I look to Essence to feel affirmed and inspired. The world outside is doing a fine job at telling me that Black women are not always 'in vogue'. And while I expect Essence to print stories that do call my attention to the more painful aspects of Black female life, I'd rather the men we drool over in between the pages of Essence could at least be the men who are more likely to lust after us back. Even if it's just a fantasy.
So do the personal social behaviors and attitudes of the people presented for you to "admire" affect your attraction level to them? Does Reggie being with a non black woman turn you off from him? Just curious as I've heard a few people express views on this.

it doesn't bother me. if she's aiming for "just a fantasy" then it shouldn't matter what preference of women he has. i'm attracted to men of all races some of which i'm sure have never dated a black woman but does that mean i crush on them any less? no sir, ryan reynolds could sit in a chair shirtless for an hour and forty-five minutes without saying a word and i'd still pay $11 to watch the damn movie!
Its funny and I'll be 100% honest although I wont blatantly discriminate against a brother who chooses to date outside of his race...he subconciously becomes off limits to me..I no longer lust for him as if he were to be "into my type"...
But um this cover looks good.
Kim gets a hi-five..they still together right?
What Goddess said...that's all.
