This pissed me off and I had to bite my tongue as to not say what I really was thinking. You see my homegurl who I reference here. Was updating me on his situation (another reason I was relived to get away from NY for a lil bit). Anyway she was about wanting to get tested because of the realization that her former partner was cheating on her. Sure that's smart but I had to ask a few questions in regards to the "accident" she said she had.
Me: "Um when did you realize an accident happened?"
Her: "That night."
Me: "Soooooo why didn't you guys go get morning after to at least void the preg. issue?"
Her: "It was Saturday night...and the next day was Sunday."
Me: "................."
Her: "What?"
Me: "Morning after is available over the counter, its available at university health centers, planned parenthood and many pharmacies."
Her: "Well look at you all on point"
Me: (with a blank face)"It's not by accident I'm not a father."
Now I dont post this is to have my friend viewed in a negative light. But on the real side, failing to plan is planning to fail. You shouldn't be doing a damn thing if you don't have teh knowledge of how to handle any of the possible outcomes of your actions. That's just basic.....and she's older then me and a mom aleady.
That's why I rarely buy all that "it just happened....it was an accident stuff"
Get ya shit together

I don't understand either, it's 2010 not 1910..."accidents" are avoidable.
I agree with CurvyGurl. This day in age, people shouldn't be having "accidents". I always say, I'm not sleeping with someone who I can't see myself sharing a life and responsibilities with.
I'll say this "accidents" do happen but their not the accidents we think of. Most people label accidents when its really lack of planning knowledge and responcibility. Their are those times when you did everything properly and other outside factors come into play. BUT those are few and far between.
The condom breaking and you both laying there looking at each other dumb founded isn't an accident.
I can't speak for Curvy, but I didn't say accidents don't happen. I say accidents shouldn't happen.
Do you think the morning after pill raises moral questions for some people? Should it?
Yep, that was my point too. Using a supposed accident as an excuse isn't cool. And, if one does happen there are options. I agree with Nik that we shouldn't lay with anyone we don't see as a potential co-parent, but I know that's not how most people see it...what do I know? I'm old...lol
