Marvel And Disney Characters To Cross Over In 'Phineas And Ferb: Mission Marvel' [Video]

We knew it was coming eventually the 1st Marvel x Disney crossover was announced at Comic Con. The big crossover news from Marvel at San Diego Comic-Con was Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel, a one-off special episode of the Disney Channel show that will mark the first animated crossover between Disney and Marvel properties. I have no clue what Phineas & Ferb is.....ask the kids I guess.

The world has a new web slinger.

Andrew Garfield, 26, has been cast as the new Peter Parker for the next installment in the "Spider-Man" movie franchise, Columbia Pictures announced on Thursday.

Andrew will make his official screen debut as the legendary superhero on July 3, 2012, when the film hits theaters in 3-D.

Production on the film will begin in early December.

Marc Webb, who helmed "(500) Days of Summer," the indie hit which starred Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel, will direct the picture.

The director said in a statement that fans will be pleased with Andrew's casting.

"Though his name may be new to many, those who know this young actor's work understand his extraordinary talents," Marc said. "He has a rare combination of intelligence, wit, and humanity. Mark my words, you will love Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker."

Andrew has appeared in a few films, including "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus," the project Heath Ledger was working on at the time of his death in 2008 and 2007's "Lions for Lambs" with Tom Cruise, Meryl Streep and Robert Redford.

The young actor is also a part of the cast of the upcoming Facebook movie, "The Social Network," due for release later this year.

Andrew, was born stateside, but grew up in Britain. He is a pal of Robert Pattinson, star of "The Twilight Saga."

Columbia Pictures also confirmed that James Vanderbilt is penning the screenplay. He previously wrote the screenplays for 2007's "Zodiac," which starred Jake Gyllenhaal and most recently "The Losers," which starred Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Chris Evans (who coincidentally is playing another superhero - Captain America), and Zoe Saldana.

"Spider-Man" the franchise has grossed more than $2.5 billion in box office receipts worldwide.

Tobey Maguire previously played "Spider-Man" in three installments of the franchise.

Spidey gets it in!!!!!!

Nerd Moment: Spidey 4 gets Trashed. Storyline Reset to HighSchool.

The tensions I posted last week have reached their boiling point and the casualty is an entire franchise. Online sources say Spider Man 4 has been officially canned, which mean no more Toby as our friendly neighborhood Spider Man. The plan now seems to be a re-reset of the story. That means after waiting 15+ plus yrs for the world famous web slinger to properly hit the big screen. The new millennium will bring us a 2nd origin story with a 10 yr span.

I have no idea how to take this. Well, at least there's still Batman.

Nerd Moment: Script and Casting Issues delay Spidey 4 (SpideyFail)

It seems like only yesterday that was seeing the original Spider-Man movie trailer that was that used the Twin Towers to hold a giant web. (RIP) And now the series is up to part 4. I hope and pray that we are not given a jumble of bullshit like what stunk up the last Xmen and Spiderman films. Too many villians, musical dances routines, etc,etc....thanks Director Sam Raimi.

Unfortunately in-fighting at Sony seems to foreshadow anything but a smooth ride to the completion of SP4. Having already missed their intended May 2011 release date and now aiming for mid Summer of that year. It seems that some how an email with a set of "script notes" from Sony got released and the tension in that studio is THICK!
The sarcastic tone of the notes is hard to miss.

The Internet loves casting rumors, but the gears of speculation are always at their highest when the topic is a superhero. Or, more accurately, who a superhero is going to be fighting in his/her's next trip to the big screen; and with Spider-Man 4 snowballing into production, the rumors have once again begun swirling around who Spidey is going to be web-punching this time around. First reports that Dylan Baker would finally be transforming into The Lizard seemed to confirm Sam Raimi's return to making a single-villain picture, but now a new name has been tossed into the ring.
