Key Quotes Taken Out of Context: Marilyn Monroe

"I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best."
— Marilyn Monroe

Context is everything. It's what gives our words their full and proper meaning. I've seen and heard the bold section of  text above repeated many times and I think ladies need to be aware that if taken out of it's full context in that way those words come off as irresponsible, unfair and imbalanced toward a current or future mate.

You ask how so? Well, I believe in going through the bad as well as the good with a person but to state that I need to deal with your worst to deserve your best is silly. If we're in a relationship I deserve your best because that is what you would want in return. Your worst could equal gross, immature mismanagement of money. Substance abuse, lack of work ethic or motivation. What if you become violent towards me? But it's all good cuz I need to "handle that to deserve your best"? That's a damn cop out because their is no owning up to your own faults and the central role YOU play in your own actions.

That's where the full context is needed. Marilyn Monroe for all the power she had over men knew that it must be admitted to that what she is less then ideal at. The admission of fault is required to then speak on what your mate deserves.

This isn't a free license to do whatever you please but an example of being open with that person who will want to help he with your faults as you should want to aid him with his.

Its a question of giving.......

So one of my more blunt friends asks me about Christmas. What'd I do, what'd I get and what I got folks. I guess simply common sense brought the conclusion that I gave more then I got.Well that's pretty much the norm but I was asked the question "Doesn't it bother you to not get anything from people you gave to?" After a deep inhale and exhale I had to break it down....

If I gave based on what I received it would never be a real balance. Some folk aren't in the position to give as they may want, some may not express themselves in the manner that I do and honestly some may not think material gifts are warranted towards me.This reminds me of when my mom would question me on things and say "Don't these girls have boyfriends? Shouldn't they be doing these things?" And perhaps she is right to degree but I'm me and this is what I do. All I ever really expect is a legitimate "Thank you and Merry Christmas" If I get an actual gift or a card then its a pleasant surprise.

I sum it up like this and this is an extreme example but it makes the point perfectly.
Jesus loved without limit regardless of if that expression was returned in like manner. Imagine is Jesus said...."Damn.I love and love these humans and I dont even get a hug in return?Screw this I'm going home."

You give to make the recipient's day/life a lil brighter.Once that's done then the mission is accomplished.
