Don't Be A Social Media Re-Run

That's my term for folk that don't talk about anything new. Always the same 1 or 2 topics, usually to an extreme level. It's a kin to a channel playing the same handful of episodes all day everyday. At least in that case you can understand the monetary value of syndication. In regards to people it's just a lil annoying. Never good to be able to predict what is coming out of a person's mouth. Especially people who you know have so much more to offer the people.

At Work Hazards

After a longer unemployed period then I hoped for and a lot of unexpected stress, I'm back to work now 2 weeks into the new assignment. I'm blessed to have gotten the slot and looking to maximize it as much as possible but with that said I cant help but be pay to the fact that there are a few red flags in my new office. The brightest of these is the fact that EVERYONE in the office clowns the guy I work with for his disjointed unorganized nature and his lack of efficient communication skills. I basically have to decode what the hell he's talking about to get my job done. Everyone job has its culture and atmosphere and I'm not mad to be getting proper money again but man is it nerve racking to deal with. No complaints. Just observations.......

The World Around Our Young Girls

Just finished reading this post from yesterday. It touches on a lot. Sharing it with you all as I'm curious to what the reactions are.

Are these girls part of a Pregnancy Pact, which I hear is some nonsense when chicks in high school (it is still high school, isn’t it?) allegedly make a promise to their besties that they will all intentionally get pregnant. Back when I was in school that was called ‘just a matter of time’ but we I guess we evolve.

These girls could be students of a public school somewhere who all happen to have been occupying the bathroom at the same time and decided to snap a ‘Awe…look at us’ precious moment photo.
The answer is that I don’t know.

Don’t care.

Oh, You Must Be “Single” Today

This is an often repeated thought in my head when getting that sporadic communication from someone you haven’t heard from in a bit. You’re cool with this person but they pulled that “I’m involved so I’m too in love to talk” move and drifted off into the mist. Then when Mr. Right does something wrong the “Hey how you been” text comes through. Depending on the person this usually coincides with some online status related post or deletion of any reference to the offending party. It’s as if a placeholder is laid down when the guy showed up and once he screws up she just attempts to pick up from right where she was. It’s funny with some people and annoying with others. I wont front a part of me is intrigued by what affects emotions can have on someone. Involved today “single and free” on Thursday and back in Love by Sunday with appropriate time given at each point to update FB and let know us all know the business. Lol, you factor the nonsense that is “cuffin’ season” into the mix and you just end up with a let of lonely people.

I don’t know. I’m a communication nut and that here today gone tomorrow stuff is just funny style to me....and perhaps a tad disrespectful. And it’s so often the “baddest, boss chick” that ends up dick whipped and sprung, ready to drop folk at a moments notice.

Many Say Their Life Is An Open Book With "Nothing To Hide"

You Know Who Makes Me Feel Good????

People who's level of communication with me doesn't change depending upon what phone they have or what social media service is currently the "in" thing. The People dictate the connection though social technology not the other way around.

Soft As Tissue Paper

So I read about the Tracey Morgan situation and I'm sorry, while I get the issue involved, I'm personally tired. I'm tired of folk being made to make lame ass apologies cuz some group is hurt or offended. We are a SOFT ASS NATION!!! You wanna say "fa**ot", "Ni**er" then say it. Say it and own it! These publicist branded "I'm sorry" messages are just P.R moves that hold no weight in regards to what the person feels. And right now Gay folk are the "special" group of the hour.

I mean how do we have shows like South Park and Family Guy yet a comedian can't have the freedom to say what he wants at his own show????

**UPDATE**

After initially supporting Tracy Morgan in the wake of his anti-gay comments, Chris Rock has done an about-face after hearing what Morgan actually said.

“Tracy Morgan is a tad off we all know that so when tracy says something i usually don’t take it anymore serious than i would a statement from gary busey or flavor flav. when i first heard the statement i thought it was offensive but it also reminded me of my father saying ill kill you if you ever bring home a white girl but afterreading everything tracy said. wow i get it that s–t wasn’t called for and i don’t support it at all. now can i please go to the tony awards without getting my ass kicked.” - Chris Rock

I Respect the Power of Words

I never call you my bitch or even my boo
There’s so much in a name and so much more in you - Common

Boo & Bitch. Two worwds thrown around like so many others. I love this  quote because it speaks to my communicative pet peeves and overall respect for the power of what we speak. Ask any woman that's been around me when's the last time they heard me call a woman "bitch". The idea of my calling female "boo" is equally unlikely I call folk what they are cuz it matters. My words hold heavy weight.

I could take it farther then just the addressing of ladies but I dont want to get that deep into it. In a society that is over the top with everything it's nice to know that some folk still measure their words appropriately.

The Hunger For More Attention

You can replace "Affection" with a series of other words. For many, all they want is for you to acknowledge them. Once you've done that they care little of what you want.....

They Need Thick Skin!!!….Or Maybe You Need Not Be A Jerk??

“People that are too sensitive should be allowed on the internet.”…. “If your feelings get hurt easy don’t log on.”……”Why You Mad?”…..LOL ok I like that last one personally but in general the tone seems to be that to deal in the online social environment requires thick skin. Lacking this emotion armor seems bother many people. Well my immediate thought to this 1) Why would you expect the Internets to be any different then real/offline life? It’s the same people. Once the digital world became social it immediate became a reflective of our society. And that includes the emotionally sensitive as well as the emotionally reckless. 2) Why is it that a person MUST have think skin online? Could the answer be that because the people that would test you or put you in a position to be emotionally stressed thrive in being dirt bags? Let me clown on them before they clown on me grade antics and various bully-like actions flourish throughout the social networks. It’s to the point that people don’t realize that the basics we grew up on get abandoned due to the safety of digital distance. I can pop off about you and if you get mad I can just block you. Wooooord? That’s the code we go by now? No more “Be man enough to stand up for your word?” Nope. We’re all about “slander” now.

This is one of the reasons I think the bullying issue is the way that it is today. You don’t have the social checks and balances of a face to face ass whooping now. If a person has something against you they can get at you from relative safety and rally more people to get at you very easily. Now of course some may say just ignore it but the social media is linking into every aspect of communication those making a lil hard to just step away.
My personally repeated theme is to cross the line between reality and cyberspace. It’s in the flesh that we balance these issues and stop them before they get too serious. The masses won’t apologize. They’ll say YOU need to be able to take it. They say that’s what the Internet is. It’s on Twitter. It’s just the Internets…….Well yes you do have to be able to take it to a degree but feelings aren’t to be a shamed of either especially when being disrespected by cowards.

Billboard of Beautiful Black Child the Face of Anti Abortion Campaign

During Black History month we have the above billboard sparking conversation and outrage. Abortion is a touchy subject as is but I personally do find it a little tasteless a way to get your across. It's very much a scare tactic but I just don't like the way it attempts to villainize those that elect to have abortions. I dont think anyone could deny that there are many that use the procedure as mere birth control but I also think you turn people off to your intended message with such a crass presentation.

And that fact that it is so targeted to just US as black people is another point that I don't like. If it is a call out to "do better" then again we shoot ourselves in the foot by so publicly airing out our business.

“During Black History Month, we celebrate our History, but our future is in jeopardy as a genocidal plot is carried out through abortion,” said Life Always Board Member Pastor Stephen Broden.

Nice one Pastor...............smh

Ugly Tasteless Nerd Moment.......Giffords Shooting

Sorry but owning a comic store isn't going to make you exempt from this one. As the nation reacts to yesterday's horrific shooting spree in Arizona. The ramblings and rhetoric on free minded citizens is showing us just how many people are actually in agreement with this type of action.

With blog post “1 down, 534 to go“, Heavy Ink founder and retailer known as TJIC commented on the assault upon U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, reportedly by an indiscriminate gunman.

It is absolutely, absolutely unacceptable to shoot “indiscriminately”.
Target only politicians and their staff, and leave regular citizens alone.
Please!

Communicational Pet Peeve / Twitter Rage Face!!!!!

It didn't take long to have this classic pet peeve translate over to Twiiter.

Nothing get's me like hittin' someone on BBM......seeing that D(delivered) turn to a R(read/received)........getting no timely reply.......but seeing the same folk posting up a storm on Twitter.

Twitter lands on the BLVD........."End of Days"

What's this!?! A day of dedication the recently formed social networking powerful of this generation?!??! Say it ain't so!!! :( Well no its not that extreme. I think I'd just take a day to drop a few posts inspired or directly related to things coming from my 2 1/2 weeks on twitter. It'll be a mix so lets see how this goes.

Um In Case Your Curious.......They're Still Dead..................

Lady Gaga posted thispic via her twitter page to signify her digital death in on going the Keep A Child Alive “Buy Life” Campaign. It would seem the public isn't going for the campaign concept. Obviously I'm not surprised.

So far, a little over $183,000 has been raised which means, the participating celebs may be absent from twitter for quite a while. It has been deemed a disappointment because these celebs have millions of followers (Lady Gaga – 7 million, Kim Kardashian – 5 million, and so on), however, the campaign is moving at a slower pace than expected.

We playing games now? Ok, Follow the leader.....

So from Sunday evening on their has been this thing that has over taken Facebook. This Q & A "game" that tells you to ask a person a question in private and they answer it, giving no names in their public statuses. Why? No reason at all just something else to do to draw attention to ones self. So what things did I witness in these oddly publicized Q & A session?

Most of the females that took part were hit p about hooking up, going out, having sex, etc,etc...Big surprise huh. Let's dig deeper. I few expressed "shock" at the tone of questions they were asked. Some played into the attention openly crushing dreams of future Humpington. Others so "conveniently" were presented with questions that allowed them to rant about their issues with the male gender.

I'll keep it funky. Some folk were just asking questions of themselves to drop indirects and subliminal messages under the guise of "I'm just answering questions." I see what y'all are doing. I guess I wouldn't have had an issue if the questioning wasn't so typicial, crass and uncreative. This was merely "Tell me indirect or directly how much you  want to do me" day so I can post it to the massive.

The only that makes the rampant attention whorism worth it is when a persons friend unexpectedly calls them out on way they've been whining all day in these "answers" and they in turn get caught off guard and extra testy. Yes we see the b.s.

As I said before on FB, if the issue was really questions they have www.formspring.com for that.

Ross I know you know better then that, right!?!

So apparently the Soul Train Awards were last night. And in massive, pouty "titty attack" Rick Ross stormed out of the award show after losing to Eminem for "Best Rap Song". Now I'm a huge Eminem fan but also know the game and to be honest there are only a hand full of artists in hi hop that can bet Eminem at an award show and Rick Ross is not one of them. He's had a monster year after dealing with 50's antics but someone needs a reality check.

Right on cue to deliver that check was Chrisette Michele, who featured on "Aston Martin" Music w/ Ross. She served it up straight to the gut via her blog....

If this is the way hip hop is then I denounce it.
This is not about ego. This is about what I can bring to the world. My life is for the people. I live to give.
It’s my desire to bring life and freedom light and love everywhere I go. Upward mobility in the brown skinned community.
Who stands off at an award show because they don’t win? An award is winning at being as “stuck in a category” as possible. Congratulations to all the trophy holders who won at being the most like every one else.
I could have sworn hip hop was on the come up. But apparently rapping is about venting, bashing, chauvinistic pigging, and EGO. Not cool. Don’t LET me start rapping.
They say…I’m ecclectic. I’m underrated. I’m different. Well If I win an award it’s because I paved a way. Every award I’ve won was new in it’s category. You know why? Because I’m amazing at being my damn self.
Grammy – best alternative R&B song Centric award – Soul Approved Etc.
Have u even heard of those categories? Nope. But guess what? You ain’t never seen another me. And u never will. No ego here. Why? Because it’s none needed. My award is waking up every morning and CAKING off of what I believe in by the grace of God.
Maybe I’ll call my 4th album “winners : just like every body else” maybe not.
I pray with every song I sing Im singing from the bottom of my heart. If all we want is an award for telling our truths, then we really have no true reason. This isn’t a competition. This is a stage for self expression and I’m grateful for the opportunity to live on it. I’d sing even if nobody sang along.
-from the bottom of my disappointed heart. Hip Hop… Man up. I wanted to be supportive but I can’t understand you. I believed in you… But apparently you’re so high you can’t even see what the world needs.
Is all hip hop like that? Absolutely not! But some of it certainly is. Let me spit a few bars. I’m not that kinda hip hop. I rep hip hop too. But not that kinda ego trippin foolery.
Chrisette Michele – the girl on that Aston Martin Music record…
Spread love.
Ross must have caught the spirit of Kanye circa 2006......
