No One Way To Success....

I can't remember when a day has gone by that business thoughts haven't filled my mind. It's the core of what I'm focused on and where I what to be. Be it within the Nomadness Tribe, The Omega Nexus or other side ventures I've been blessed to be introduced to a number of ways to make business work. I'm proud to be a part of the next era of transitional young business folk. We're a group breaking free from the belief that the path to success and is only attainable via the road though college degrees and 9-5 jobs. Now while many have come to detest this ideology I make sure not to get to a point of speaking down on those that do pursue this way and who generally like it. As the number of entrepreneurs in my circle increases I often remind folks that not everyone is you. Not everyone is supposed to create and run their own business.

For as many people as I know doing these new exciting things professionally, I know just as many that are perfectly happy with a 9-5 in a field they like and rising their family. We need to be sure not to speak in a condescending manner or indirectly shame those that aren't doing what we do. They are often our biggest supporters. Many speak on society and use terms like "sheep" when in truth many of us come from "sheep" ourselves. They are the parents that came to the U.S and built the life that produced this generation of trend setters, often with multiple 9-5/mainstream jobs.  That's the balance we need. Creators of all kinds and consumers to support them.

I feel that your drive and goals should define you. Yet understand that those goals and how you go about getting them only apply to you. There are many ways to get it. There is no 1 definition of business these days and more importantly there are many, many roads to happiness.

Keeping "Me" As The Focus????

Before leaving on the RV Tour someone very close to me said "I wish you'd stop helping everyone else with their dreams and pursue your own..." That has stuck with since she said it. Part of it angered me cuz there's a lot she simply doesn't "get" but there is some truth to that. In terms of where and towards whom I place my energies. I've been in "Heavy Business Mode" since last Nov. I do need to get back to creating and writing again while still building these other brands. Keep focused Guardian......

The Hunger For More Attention

You can replace "Affection" with a series of other words. For many, all they want is for you to acknowledge them. Once you've done that they care little of what you want.....

It's Always Someone's Turn....

So last week Kobe calls a ref a "Fa**ot" and clearly that's not cool. Buuuut am I alone in thinking that the $100,000 fine and subsequent Gay and Lesbian activism that Kobe will be partaking in is a bit much for a heat of the moment word screams on the highest level of sports? No its not a good thing to say but anyone that has played ball on ANY level knows that any and everything is said between those lines and there has to be a sense of context to a situation.

To be 100% honest I feel like America has continued this level over sensitivity to everything. Maybe it was when Bin Laden slapped us all the face that we've been shaken internally but it seems that the nation can't say anything without feeling that they have to apologize and make the ultra over the top "make amends." See it's not that I don't see whats wrong. I get the the Homosexual community issues with that word but my thing is that we dont really care like that much.We give groups a certain level of extra protection for a period of time and then we move on to another group. Today lets not offends the Black folk so just insult Mexicans and Jews. Next month don't offend the gay people so do back to violating the Blacks, Mexicans and the Jews......oooh wait we're going too hard at the Mexicans so let's be nice to them.

Applying this to the Kobe situation makes me wonder if there will now be a other "special" words that don't get a pass vs. "acceptable" offensive language? At the cost of $100,000 that's some expensive talk. Calling a ref a "fu**ing fa**ot" gets the fine......but would anyone have reacted if Kobe called him a "bitchass ni**a?" for some reason I don't think so.

So I'm more Logic then Love huh???

Many times my head says

"Screw 'em! Do what you wanna do. Let them handle their own problems. Why you running ya self into the ground all the time. They ain't checking on you why you worried about them. Yeah they only reach out when they don't have better things to do. You not as important to them as they are to you. See that, do you call that friendship? Let'em see what it's like without. DO YOU JASON!!! DO YOU!!!!"

And yet my heart can't let that ride too long and I'll always come back to do what love has me to do.

Labor Day Weekend

The unofficial end of Summer is here and truthfully I'm ready for it. I got in shape to be descent in St.Croix (Next Target Spring 2011) and after the HOTTEST summer I can remember, the thought of boots, hoodies, sweaters, and long sleeves feels pretty good. That's still a lil bit away but time flies so in due time. As for this weekend and the week upcoming, if ever a man could a recharge it's me.

So I hope that the next 7-10 days provides just that.

The Public Journey of Love.......Love is like Hot Dogs

I've realized something. I enjoy and appreciate the end product of love but I have no real desire to watch the process of love in action 24/7 through the wonder of social media. I feel that it's privacy more then ever that give a relationship that special something that separates it from our other many relationships. When I hear my friend has started a new relationship I wish the best and genuinely hope for good times and a happy ending.(get ya minds out the gutter) Anyway, what will turn me off from that feeling is when my daily browsing of fb, blogs and whatnot are now spammed with a flurry on "my boo, my baby, my love, etc,etc...."

Don't get me wrong, do what ever you want. I just may have to step back and separate from the process. It's kind of like hot dogs. I like them but I'm sure if I watched exactly how their made I'd no longer want one. In relationship terms that translate into the following : Quality over Quantity always wins out. You don't get points for how many ways you can name dropped your significant other. So if you have a good day that was made better and you want to express that then cool. But every single up and down thought doesn't need public exposure. It just makes u seem bi polar, confused, obsessive and crazy. Example, "I'm sitting on the toilet and thinking about my baby in the other room." Ok, put the iPhone/BB down.

It's just interesting to see the way communication is handled these days......oh well.

*This post was cosigned thru a convo with Evie.So I dont feel so crazy for these thoughts.*

Adjusting to the growing role of the Social Internets

I'm finding my self more and more over saturated with social media. It's a constant balancing act for someone like me who craves up to date information yet has no real desire to know EVERY thought in a friends mind. I was telling someone that no person is 100% likable. In terms of friends, we have people who agree or are similar to us on a majority of the high value points we have or common interests to warrant interaction. But even your friends, hell your family as well think things that if you knew them would turn you off.

In my opinion, before online socializing it was more likely that you wouldn't learn of this negative traits/thoughts/habits because the expressive channels were limited. You had no way to know what was on a friends mind as they sit on the toilet, party in a club or are on a date. Notice these are all examples that don't really need to have a person updating online status' but we all do it or have done it. It adds to overkill if you ask me. Without purposely trying to do so I end up with little formulas for how I deal with things.

In regards to the online world I have ratios for people. The ratio of useless vs useful, insightful vs. generic, interesting vs. stupid, etc,etc,etc....In addition to that anyone that gets on a roll of consecutive posts about the same thing may result in my cutting off my access to them for awhile. It's really nothing personal I'm just picky when it comes to communication. After awhile I say to myself "Ok I get it!!!" It's similar to how BET re runs the BET Awards 15 damn times. Eventually it does get redundant.

But anyway in the end I think we do need balance of how much we put out and how much we take in. I mean whats worst, the fact that I who you had a booty call with last night or the fact that you actually give that information out to the general public?

Last Time You had to Step It Up?????

The song spoke about "upgrading" men. Interesting thought but I'm really curious in the guys that have forced any of you females to strep it up. The guy that was dead serious about his finances that made you look at ya credit for the first time, the fitness guru that had you counting calories...what was it like not being able to just get by on being cute or having a legit sex game???

As the summer wraps up...

The summer is coming to a close and soon it'll be cool fall weather. And as I mentally get myself for the 2nd half of the year. I'm dealing with serious adjustments in the way I deal with various people. This year thus far has been full of numerous changes in the priorities of my friends and associates. Some people focused on self improvements, some got sucked up into the whirlwind that is "love" while others simply "did them". Among these various groups of people, at one point or another I've made gestures to see whats good with people and maintain (re-establish) relationships. Interestingly enough this resulted in me not seeing many people I usually interact with while seeing people who I usually don't see that often.

Yes, the familiar faces got very distant this year. And this made me think of just how much energy I'd want to use in trying to reach these people. In recent conversations with Evie and Mz.J, I've spoken on my deliberate intentions to hold people more accountable for their actions or in this case their inaction. Jillz agree with the feeling of giving me to others then you get in return. You have to balance that off at some point. In addition to that Evita also agreed, adding that

"we at an age where it's not just about how you treat me but how you treat others"
That's so true. I don't want people around me that are assholes to the world but great people to me. I need individuals of consistency in my circle. That extends to the digital world. I know too many people who's online persona don't match reality. And have even had some folk forget just who their speaking to and bring that cyber attitude to me.....smh.

I started the year focused on personal improvement and growth through accountability. And that theme has not changed. It just now extends outward to my the people in my space. Cuts have been made already and more may need to be. All I can say is that I cut no one off from my love and feelings, but rather, you're cut off from the usually limitless amount of personal energy I would devote to being concerned about you. If I don't warrant your thoughts and replies then my energies can be better used elsewhere.

Previous blog Clear up.

Well, for clarification purposes let me say that this isn't about a "significant other" but rather a very close friend that repeats the same poor actions and I'm at a point of cutting her off to save myself the worry. When she's around we're great. We've made money together I'm cool with her child too. But she pulls these disappearing acts that I don't like and I'm too old to be chasing after my peoples. The love is there but the energy isn't.

Last yr in mid Sept. I gave a very real warning to her after she sent through a similar period of radio silence and then popped up like shit was all peaches and cream. I told her "I've always been there for you and will continue to do so. But if over a 2-3 month period you can't find a 10 sec window to call, text or email me to at least let me know your breathing then I gotta step away."

I have a BB she has a Palm, so there no excuses. And see this isn't a romantic thing either. In a different reality I could see it but that's not what it is and we're both great with that, but more importantly if I have love for you I need to know your ok, period. Some of my friends who know me personally can attest to this. I don't react well to that brand of silence. Because I don't know if your ill, hurt, in financial problem, suicidal, etc,etc....

This may seem extreme to some but again those that know me know what it is. I usually have an infinity amount of patience for this. But I can't maintain that any longer......I've made 1 final attempt to see what's good. If this doesn't turn up anything then it is what it is.
