Geraldo Blames The Hoodie More So Then The Killer

By now I'm sure most of you have heard the remarks of Geraldo Rivera as the Trayvon Martin case and its various layers effect the nation. Geraldo, while not faulting the victim, does basically place an unusual level of blame on the clothing young Trayvon was killed in vs the stereotypical views of his murderer. No matter WHAT you wear there is no true connection to what happened in Florida that night. This falls very much in line with the train of thought many rape victims deal with. Being told that the way you dress aided in giving signals to warrant or invite sexual aggression is a common occurrence.

Geraldo spoke of the "Gangsta" look and while there is much that we as culture people do to create or feed into an "Angry or Bad Guy" type image, to judge all books bu there covers is silly and implies that we as adults can't tell the difference between fact and fiction. Is every wild haired white man a potential serial killer? We've already become hyper reactionary to the various "looks" of the Middle East and Muslims in general. 9/11 gave the nation ample reason for that. The Black American stereotypes are as old as this nation and Trayvon was the most recent reminder.

What gets me the most is that Geraldo is essentially asking us to accept the negative views and twisted images our society has of Black people and change OUR actions to comply with them. It is as if we should just accept this view and the potential of harm or death with it without a cry of objection at all.

Well, by now you know silence is NOT how we will react to this. Honestly I think there are other kids Mr Rivera should be worried about.

They Need Thick Skin!!!….Or Maybe You Need Not Be A Jerk??

“People that are too sensitive should be allowed on the internet.”…. “If your feelings get hurt easy don’t log on.”……”Why You Mad?”…..LOL ok I like that last one personally but in general the tone seems to be that to deal in the online social environment requires thick skin. Lacking this emotion armor seems bother many people. Well my immediate thought to this 1) Why would you expect the Internets to be any different then real/offline life? It’s the same people. Once the digital world became social it immediate became a reflective of our society. And that includes the emotionally sensitive as well as the emotionally reckless. 2) Why is it that a person MUST have think skin online? Could the answer be that because the people that would test you or put you in a position to be emotionally stressed thrive in being dirt bags? Let me clown on them before they clown on me grade antics and various bully-like actions flourish throughout the social networks. It’s to the point that people don’t realize that the basics we grew up on get abandoned due to the safety of digital distance. I can pop off about you and if you get mad I can just block you. Wooooord? That’s the code we go by now? No more “Be man enough to stand up for your word?” Nope. We’re all about “slander” now. 

This is one of the reasons I think the bullying issue is the way that it is today. You don’t have the social checks and balances of a face to face ass whooping now. If a person has something against you they can get at you from relative safety and rally more people to get at you very easily. Now of course some may say just ignore it but the social media is linking into every aspect of communication those making a lil hard to just step away.
My personally repeated theme is to cross the line between reality and cyberspace. It’s in the flesh that we balance these issues and stop them before they get too serious. The masses won’t apologize. They’ll say YOU need to be able to take it. They say that’s what the Internet is. It’s on Twitter. It’s just the Internets…….Well yes you do have to be able to take it to a degree but feelings aren’t to be a shamed of either especially when being disrespected by cowards.

With Ruling against Ex Wife Steve Harvey Laughs Last.

A few weeks ago Steve Harvey's wife Mary Harvey took to the Internets with a series of claims and charges against her one time husband. These accusations went at Steve with both guns blazing and sparred no one including her and Steve's kids from public commentary. That was one thing, so as is usually the case (look back at Keri Hilson for example) the online court of opinion slammed Steve on all front especially as he was preparing to release a new book. All the pro women, man bashers were in their glory but it truly was all good just a week ago...

A Texas court has ruled in on the matter and has told Mary to fall all the way back. Steve's lawyer released the official statement and paperwork detailing just how things are going down.

In addition to Mary possibly facing charges for violating a gag order, yesterday the court decided on 7 crucial points in Mary’s accusations:

(1) Mary Harvey was not homeless or evicted from her home and was awarded 3 homes in the property settlement;

          (2) Steve Harvey did not take, withhold or turn the child against Mary;

(3) Mary Harvey willingly placed the child on an airplane and sent him to Mr.Harvey without his knowledge;

(4) Steve Harvey has primary custody of the 13-year-old child;

(5) Steve Harvey did not take Mary Harvey’s wealth. Mary recieved $40,000 per month from 2005 – 2009;

(6) Mary Harvey recieved $1.5 million from Steve in March 2009;

(7) The divorce was granted on irreconcilable differences and current wife was not apart of the original divorce proceeding, nor was she the cause of the marital break-up.

Gov. McDonnell apologizes for omitting slavery in Confederacy proclamation


(CNN) -- Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell apologized Wednesday for leaving out any reference to slavery in his recent proclamation designating April as Confederate History Month, calling it a "major omission."

"The failure to include any reference to slavery was a mistake, and for that I apologize to any fellow Virginian who has been offended or disappointed," McDonnell said in a written statement.

"The abomination of slavery divided our nation, deprived people of their God-given inalienable rights, and led to the Civil War," the statement said. "Slavery was an evil, vicious and inhumane practice which degraded human beings to property, and it has left a stain on the soul of this state and nation."

After this past weekend I am more then happy to stay my ass home and avoid anything that will cost my more $$$ prior to Xmas. The exception is when one of my or my peoples connects results in free admission (and free drinks) in which case I'm all in. So tonight Evita came thru with the info for a Black Hennessy party It was free Henny and Black Jack Table set up amongst the crowd while Power 105's Dj Kut worked the wheels of steel.

So anyway, not to boast but I was serving everyone up on the black jack table. The player with the most chips by a certain time wins a prize from Hennessy so you knoooow I was game for that.I was doing my thing steadily approaching victory when this lame that was clearly out of the running decides to fold and leave the game. But instead of giving his chips to dealer, he gives all his chips to the female to was closest to me in chip count thus putting her over me and gave her the win. I shook her hand and congratulated her for the win.It's not her fault that homeboy was a damn simp.

Hate Crime in Albany, NY-Black Man Thrown Into BonFire

AST GREENBUSH, N.Y. – A Rensselaer County man is behind bars after allegedly tossing a teen into a fire early Friday morning in a fit of rage. It happened at an outdoor party in East Greenbush.

Police say it was 23-year-old Bruce Vroman who grabbed 18-year-old Derek George and threw him into the flames. Friends quickly pulled Derek out, but it wasn’t fast enough.

18-year-old Derek George can barely speak through his pain. Second and third degree burns cover his leg, back, and half his face. “It hurts a lot,” he says softly.

This is the attitude I hope President starts laying down on people because some folk are getting WAAAAAAAY to comfy with blatantly disrespecting the man. Last night's Health Care speech was good but should it really be that hard to make sure the citizens of the "most powerful nation on earth" have adequate medical care? For fifty-one minutes I watched the most transparent split in legislation, occupy one room, and do everything from give repeat standing ovations, to bolt demeaning epithets to the President.....as he works to make sure every American is covered under health insurance.

This is why, of the character I have seen, I deem America as a jester. We look like clowns. And being about as far away from the United States as humanly possible, it's legitimized and magnified when you are on the outside looking in. You can tell I'm pissed because my vocabulary comes out.
