I Understand.....

Many people think that silence represents a lack of caring or concern. They think you are apathetic to what's going on around you and with other people. No, at least for me it's the opposite. Silence is a sign of understanding. It's understanding that life is about change. Even when it's change you didn't ask for or even like. I see why the change is happening and can move on with life understanding whats going on. Rules are changing.....hell, rules are disappearing in some cases. We do what we must and as time progresses we take the feelings of fewer and fewer people into consideration during our decisions. It's life. Priorities change.

Cold NY Nights.......

It's that time of year. Folk aren't just out and about for the sake of enjoying a warm midnight outside. The chill is back and that sends many running to the warmth of home. Not to mention the comfort of body heat. That also means that people become more selective with who they are willing to brave the cold to come out and see. In other words it's that part of the year where I know I won't be seeing too many folk. Well with so much on my plate I guess that just leaves me more time to work.......

Definitely A Belief That I Live By

I'd much rather you elect to walk away and know it was 100% your decision then to beg and have you stay thinking that your doing me a favor.

The Word is CON·VEN·IENCE

The quality of being suitable to one's comfort, purposes, or needs: the convenience of living near shops, schools, and libraries.

Friendship should not be based on the above......

Imbalance.......

Funny how folk weigh priorities different in relation to themselves and others. I watch people do whatever they want for themselves with no thought of others, but for some reason my priorities are to be linked to others say so? So many things I see.....secrets I hold......contradictions I see played out......Yeah that's funny......their rules & mine......

Not How It Used To Be.....

How do we come to define friendships? It seems to be a combo of what is shown to us, what we see from those around us and what we ourselves come to define it as. Regardless of what factor effected us most its an unavoidable fact that these relationships will change in time. What was the norm will become the rare exception. Over the past few years I've seen this happening and I've honestly tried to fight it in many cases. Unfortunately its a fight that is not in me to actually win. Friends grow apart. This happens due to various levels of life separation. People move away, people get married, start families, priorities change, interests change, time just doesn't allow it....or you're value to them just isn't what it used to be. No real crime in that, it's just life. People, reasons, seasons blah, blah, blah.....I know.

I've reached out to some folk who were fixtures in life who's "disappearances" didn't make sense to me. The effort needed in these cases to meet the status quo really wasn't much of anything. Which made that lack of movement that much hurtful. Yet it was many of these situations that taught that sometimes its not a physical tangible thing that's stopping people, its their mind set that no longer includes you. And that's often on a subconscious level. By subconscious I mean that if you speak to them they will never say a bad thing about you. They may deflect the reason for the distance, laugh it off and swear that it wont continue. Then the second you walk away it continues.

In the end I've come to accept that some connections will never be what they were for whatever the reason. Yeah should we link up again in the future it'll be all love but the hope on my end for the former level of consistency is fizzled out. I'm where I am and for some where I am is unreachable soil. 914 aka Antarctica aka the North Eastern Triangle...I don't know. It is what it is. I went through a period of really being upset about this. Now not so much. I do work well in quiet and solitude. And life has provided quite a batch of new friends and supporters, so let whatever hampers others from being mobile or reaching out be on them.

The story continues full speed ahead with no regrets. Those who elect to join the ride are welcome. If friendship has been earned along the way it will always be there even if in the most basic of forms.

Gotta Know How To Take It.....

Aiming for a productive day and a self application of a simple fact. As I open up to new views and perspectives I cant get too put off by folk telling me to just brush off, get over or move on from things that are sensitive to me but not so much to them. Its cant be taken too personal as we've all walked different paths.......

Rambling at 1am..........I Think Too Much

Photobucket
That's something I do and I fully accept it as pat of how I operate....The world feeds you so much info so rapidly I can help but think on whats happening outside of my knowledge....The combination of communicative tools, human ego, the need for attention and just plane old common sense swirls around in my head to create. Whats being said about you that you never hear?.....If I can hear the things that are said to me in confidence about others then I've never been naive enough to talk such chatter hasn't happened about me as well. Logic and Averages.....A recent convo raised a good point that the issue of hypocrisy is so relative because we ALL are hypocrites at one point or another........It may not be known to others but it happens. It may not be your prevailing trait but put the right set of circumstances together and you'll break you're rules in a million pieces.....I work well w/ people in general but I love when a business opportunity can succeed w/ women. If you haven't realized it many of them are leading the pack on the entrepreneurial side of things....BUT, notice I said "WHEN".....many a potential great dealing has been derailed simply because for all the independent, modern woman chat that makes for great quotes. I case of "new found love" (or just good dick) has distracted potential partners to the point of having to leave the projects alone. It's a gamble to be honest....Powerful is the woman that doesn't swing her life in a complete 180 degree turn cuz "Mr Right Now" has showed up. I say that cuz if the guy IS really all that he won't allow himself to become a distraction......buuuuuut that's just me and I'm learning my way of thinking doesn't correlate with folk much......Hoping for a great time in Toronto but as always I'm keeping myself prepared for any and everything......Nothings for certain. I know enough about the variables in play to plan accordingly......I don't ever wish ill and unhappiness on others but I take serious exception to those that seek my aid, support, comfort etc....then disappear once things improve.....its not a grudge I hold but it memory that will but fade......years of friendship isn't an invincible shield against foolishness....we have to grow up....Yes we all have our vices but I certain maturity level has to be their.......hopefully....Is omission of the complete truth a lie? Not telling what a person doesn't need to know?......Not sure.....It's in my nature to make people bigger and better then what they may actually be. Especially in a world where many 1st impressions are digital. Your slick words may be quotes taken from else where....your picture required 15 takes to get the right lighting and angle to show what you like but hide what you're insecure about....build on the positive and hope the negative never surfaces.....I've had folk till me plenty times I'm "nicer" or "not as mean" in person. I think honestly I'm just more str8 forward and stoic online. I don't try to express great emotion generally speaking on the Internets.....at least not off the Blvd. I've always let it be known that those curious of me will inquire and if the result is that I'm nicer in person then hey that's better then the opposite reaction....

2012 JAM 4 JAMAICA

I'm NY born but as most people know my parents and family are from Antigua. As with most folks with island roots we give back. It's what we do to keep that link to those who are still back home: you send money; you load up the super sized barrel with care products and items for the family a few times a year. I know you all know the drill.

This month I've linked up with my Toronto based Blogtalk partner Telisha to aid with Jam 4 Jamaica.

This party for a purpose takes place Saturday April 21st at The Sheraton Centre Hotel, City Hall Ballroom in downtown Toronto. The J4J Team is looking to raise funds to provide education scholarship to 10 children from the Riverton community in Kingston. These students were identified by  Student Crossing Borders Organization as children in need on a waiting list to receive scholarship to farther their education.

Jam 4 Jamaica is here to do its part. This is the 2nd Annual Fundraiser of what looks to be a long running successful cause.

For those who will be in the T-Dot area and are looking to attend the event get more info here
and make your ticket purchase here.

For those of you that cant make it but are looking to aid via donation I will updating very soon with the paypal donation info.

Is That How You See Me?

And old church in Antigua.......
When we exchange pleasantries do you think you are speaking to a fool?
When we converse do you think we are speaking to sheep?
When my name comes up do you think I am brainwashed?
Do you conveniently ignore that which I am or am I equally delusional in your eyes?

I don't press my faith on people. What I believe and operate by for my own sanity and sense of conscious is, in my opinion a personal affair. I don't like religious believers that talk down to and constantly preach at those that do not believe. I don't like when people that don't believe feel the need to constant debunk the beliefs of others.
I remember when the cutest girl in high school told me she didn't believe in a God. This surprised me because of the team she ran with who were Muslim, but it didn't decrease how much I liked her. Wish thing stayed like that. You don't worry about what I believe, I don't worry about your beliefs and if we're all genuinely good people, just be that .

Rambling in Recovery....

You ever wonder if the time and energies you put into some people are worth it?.....Many folk I see making it many more keep on faking it......the digital numbers amassed via your curves do not automatically mean you have a following.......too many "trying to be comedians" for my taste........MTV2's Guy Code is soooo overdue.....Alesha Renee is still fine!....As far as networks, making moves and evolving Evita's "the most important person in the room"....For many, lace should NOT be worn beyond the bedroom. Only a few know how to rock that for the public eye....guilty pleasures abound...people, places, things....It's funny to remember how females used to scare me socially....my business mindset right now is very focused and in turn has me very snippy in my meetings...technology irks a lot of people when it comes to communication. Women like voices, I.e calls... Men like direct talk and comfort I.e texting....you have to be to understand and accept that. Only a few folk in your life should have the ability to demand which u do....NBA's back, sports media is still predictable, fans vs fanatic ratio still tilted in the wrong direction......your not single, more like testing samples while not really wanting to make a final decision......a situation is bad only if you are unaware of your position in it or make no move to improve it.....communication via BBM status messages.....many times odd to me....and WTF everyones leaves BB.....well it has been a BAD year for the Blackberry nation...Really trying to cut through the talkers and find more doers. Americans are natural talkers...Big City Americans are bigger talkers....and honestly we New Yorkers can write humongous checks that have no shot at being cashed.......there is an ulterior motive to soooo many of the pix I see posted on these Internets......nothing is "entitled" to anyone.....regardless of location or level of intoxication you can flawlessly pull off the exposed titty meat/cleavage and higher cell phone pic and simultaneously post it to all your sites but you can rarely reply to comments on said pix.....yeah you'll be looking attention whorish....but no one listens to me. lol.....You ever see stats or tweets that you kno were typed SPECIFICALLY to name drop someone "important", like you at have to says all that just to let folk know you know this person......Does "act your age" even hold weight as a saying anymore? Everyone is subtracting like 10yrs from their age anyway. 30's the new 20 right? O_O.....I wish a chick would attempt to tell me what kind of drink I should be having....I care less what color it is and if I've paid for your drink shut it up on that one......its a test in patience when that blackberry loading hourglass starts spinning...not sure if it'll be boxing or kick boxing but I'll be getting into 1 of them in 2012....I wanna break any pc I'm on when I see my home gurl recycling old ass pix like their new.......Kung Fu Panda can do no wrong...outside of my immediate fam it'll be a lot of cards this Xmas. Horrible timing when this last assignment ended.....I forgive but never forget. That's how I make not to repeat mistakes....Life really does balance itself out....Crazy what can happen in a week....for all the weight I press and all the hours I'm in the gym, damn that eye shot brought things down to earth REAL fast...But now I'm mad and will get that much better when I return to the gym tomorrow....This Kris Humphrey guy is like a Eddie Munster with the IQ and personality of an 11 yr old...and quite frankly an 11 yr old has more personality...Folk strive more for Attention then for Accomplishment....2012 I'll finally welcome ya'll to my world....

It's All Human Nature

Sitting back I glance at the television, 40+ inches of HD details makes the images so clear.....so there's no avoiding the vile things airing on networks ranging from ESPN to CNN. The faces of Power, Good, Bad and the Ugly are everywhere.

I observe things. I'm a people watcher 24/7. Those I deal with personally and those I see from a distance. There is a consistency of how power and/or the attempts to gain power effect people. Some folk gain power through their infectious spirit. They stand for something and the force of their will attracts those of a like mind. This can result in the formation of local tribes, cults, religions, government,etc....There does come a point where a leader or a group hit that power ceiling. The ceiling is the point where power is manageable yet still within the checks and balances of the people below. Unfortunately, few people are satisfied with the ceiling. They crash through it showering sharp glass and debris on the people they are supposed to be working with and for.

Hit the jump for a social review of the hunger for power...

So What Did Hov Do To You?

King, G.O.A.T, Best to ever do it.....These monikers among many more get applied to Jay-Z by supporters across the world. I personally don't use these labels but I respect where they come from. But this isn't a post about Jay-Z's lyrical ability or his place among the greatest of all time. As is usually the case on the Blvd, this is about the people. This is a general inquiry into why so many people dislike a guy who so epitomizes growth, evolution and escape from negative circumstances? We're the "talk about it" generation. We have so many ways to express ourselves that there is rarely time given to think about the validity of what is being said.

A few days ago Jay-Z & Kanye West, another of the people's favorite targets, released a new track off their upcoming Watch the Throne album. The song, Otis, had everyone talking, as if we need more fuel to start chattin' but anyway, you had those that loved it more then their new born child, you had those that labeled it another addition to their satanic, Illuminati driven catalog. And then you had those in the middle. The calm and the more rational that may have liked it or not, but didn't put too much more weight on one song then it deserves.

What caught my attention were posts I was seeing that had little to do with the actual song in question. Jay-Z is a fraud, a biter, a sell out, an Uncle Tom, etc,etc.....The digital venom was potent I thought my hard drive may crash if I viewed to much. Did Jay sleep with your girl back in the day? Were you tight with Harlem and never got over those shots Jay-Z tossed at Mase's Uptown crew never a decade ago? I'm just curious what is it that people want? I'm curious if folk realize how foolish and hypocritical they look with the outlandish accusations? Drug dealer to multimillionaire mogul. That's fact so within that fact what would people have Mr Carter do?

It reminds me how people got at Jordan for not speaking out more against certain injustices and using his fame and power for more. That wasn't his thing. I think when it comes to us black folk we expect the major give back from our celebs. We hope for and want those that came up to give back. Not just give back but give back directly to us. Don't save lives in Africa. Don't raise social awareness in Europe. All of that is voided if you're not creating millionaires back in BK on the streets you once ran. Let's ignore the fact that the streets DO NOT financially support artists but are the first to demand some one keeps it real. Yeah ok, far be it for the guy to get as far away form his street hustling roots as possible. Nothing like listening to 40 yr old man spit about "moving them things" O_o

Along with that, I hear folk say that Jay doesn't rap "for the hood" anymore. Ummmmm, when was he last in the hood to be rapping about it anyway? The man's a married multimillion. Who would take when seriously? This is his world that's what he speaks on. Why is this so hard to deal with?
Then one of the more popular issues is that Jay-Z is merely success from biting other peoples lines. BIG, Pac, Nas, so on and so forth. This too never makes sense to me. You can maybe construct 1 or 2 songs worth of Jay "line bites" but then what do you attribute the other 11+ albums worth of material too? Again it's something that sounds good to say but doesn't really have legs.

You see, if you ask me to name my favorite MC's there are a few that will be named before Jay-Z. If I had to pick between Jay and Nas as the only artist I could listen to for the reminder of my life I'd pick Nas. So this isn't a Jay-Z fan campaigning for my favorite. I'm just thrown off by how crazy people sound when they go at him.......nevermind that nothing being said actually has any bearing on his life but you know.

All Equal Under the Rainbow????

Gotham's Empire State Building shows colors of support for the newly passed Marriage laws for folk of all sexual orientation. Many see this as a show of bad things to come. Other see it as a step towards civil equality. Me? I'm indifferent. I just hope it brings more money into the New York.
