Rambling at 1am..........I Think Too Much

That's something I do and I fully accept it as pat of how I operate....The world feeds you so much info so rapidly I can help but think on whats happening outside of my knowledge....The combination of communicative tools, human ego, the need for attention and just plane old common sense swirls around in my head to create. Whats being said about you that you never hear?.....If I can hear the things that are said to me in confidence about others then I've never been naive enough to talk such chatter hasn't happened about me as well. Logic and Averages.....A recent convo raised a good point that the issue of hypocrisy is so relative because we ALL are hypocrites at one point or another........It may not be known to others but it happens. It may not be your prevailing trait but put the right set of circumstances together and you'll break you're rules in a million pieces.....I work well w/ people in general but I love when a business opportunity can succeed w/ women. If you haven't realized it many of them are leading the pack on the entrepreneurial side of things....BUT, notice I said "WHEN".....many a potential great dealing has been derailed simply because for all the independent, modern woman chat that makes for great quotes. I case of "new found love" (or just good dick) has distracted potential partners to the point of having to leave the projects alone. It's a gamble to be honest....Powerful is the woman that doesn't swing her life in a complete 180 degree turn cuz "Mr Right Now" has showed up. I say that cuz if the guy IS really all that he won't allow himself to become a distraction......buuuuuut that's just me and I'm learning my way of thinking doesn't correlate with folk much......Hoping for a great time in Toronto but as always I'm keeping myself prepared for any and everything......Nothings for certain. I know enough about the variables in play to plan accordingly......I don't ever wish ill and unhappiness on others but I take serious exception to those that seek my aid, support, comfort etc....then disappear once things improve.....its not a grudge I hold but it memory that will but fade......years of friendship isn't an invincible shield against foolishness....we have to grow up....Yes we all have our vices but I certain maturity level has to be their.......hopefully....Is omission of the complete truth a lie? Not telling what a person doesn't need to know?......Not sure.....It's in my nature to make people bigger and better then what they may actually be. Especially in a world where many 1st impressions are digital. Your slick words may be quotes taken from else where....your picture required 15 takes to get the right lighting and angle to show what you like but hide what you're insecure about....build on the positive and hope the negative never surfaces.....I've had folk till me plenty times I'm "nicer" or "not as mean" in person. I think honestly I'm just more str8 forward and stoic online. I don't try to express great emotion generally speaking on the Internets.....at least not off the Blvd. I've always let it be known that those curious of me will inquire and if the result is that I'm nicer in person then hey that's better then the opposite reaction....

Her Finger Is Not Your Business

You ever witness this? Among a group of people at a social gathering, introductions are being mad small talk and chit chat happens and as people are finding out about each other the following happens.

Jessica : "Ooooh so how long have you been together?"

Couple: "About (fill in the blank) years."

Jessica : "That's great are you Married?"

Couple : "No (laughing)"

Jessica : "Engaged?"

Couple : "Umm *looks at ringless fingers* not officially engaged."

Jessica : "Damn. When you gonna put a ring on it!?!?"

***Awkward Silence all around***

Now the words may vary from convo to convo BUT you get the idea. Is it just me but I think that a public questioning a couples time line or plan is NEVER proper. Beyond the "how long have you been together" line I feel that anything else is on the couple to say. I know society feels the marriage is expected but even so it's not anyone's business but them. And when you have couples that have been together for extended periods of time I think common sense should lead you to know NOT to question it.

It's Less About Him and More About You

So we get a new twist in a religious sex scandal.....it was one of us. A black guy. You know the end of the world is coming cuz things we never heard black folk doing are happening now. Anyway, a few people have asked my opinion on this so I' state my take on all this 1 time. If the allegations that are coming forward are true then "tuff break" for Pastor Long. It's an ugly, disgusting situation that will have far reaching effects especially in the minds of his church. But to be perfectly honest, when things like this happen I'm less concerned with the main figure of attention more so then I am interested in the actions or reactions of the viewing public. 

You see, if things are all true then Paster Long has already cast his lot and must deal with it, but what about you? No one is making us laugh at this, no one is making us turn this into an online joke. The way folk will flock to this situation as a way to bash religion is of more concern to me then the acts of this man. People will take this instance to cast religion as corrupt, fraudulent and perverse. Even if the FACTS scream to the opposite. The problem is that the functional churches go about their business affecting change, bringing up quality people and that gets no press no attention. If you take the churches that have had scandals multiply it by 10 you would still have a low end minority percentage of the churches in this nation. But a loud, ugly minority can many times overshadow a steady silent majority. Just look at the Tea Party.

I know my church experience is a "unique one" but then again so are these over the top evils of these selective churches as well. In the midst of all this is a silent middle class of functional faith followers that need to shine light on the truth that church isn't some standard cover up for immoral base activity.

I cut the pastor no slack but I am no judge. I'm shaking my head just as much at the long distance critics and keyboard attorneys as I do at the man accused of the crimes.

A friend of mine on FB posted the following statement and I figured I'd throw it out to y'all and see what you think. I have my opinion on this and it varies depending on the circumstance. Should I see y'all commenting on this then I'll add my thoughts on it.

"Is After-sex Etiquette dead? Whether you want to have babies with your most recent bed partner or never see them again, fact is, you've just experienced an intimate act together. And common courtesy demands acknowledgement of the act - preferably with a phone call.... You should never send a text message after (good) sex, Lol."

This is not the way you talk about females....

...but I'm sure a lot of people co-sign this.

A WTF Friday Moment

In the Club

From 2000-2008 I was a club promoter and marketing guy.I pushed parties in NY and assisted a few record labels with their promotions on albums and other projects.Cool stuff when I was younger, but greed and ego among other things made me decide to leave it alone last summer. I've been to tons of loungers and bar and the once in a blu birthday party. Or I've come through to show love to someone that's throwing a party. With the exception of being out of town of entertaining visitors do I ever really "club" anymore.

Well last nite I was asked to checking out club HOME with my boy for a possible red carpet event he is planning on throwing. I said fine......smh @ that. My evening started very chaotic in having to link up with my people and then getting to the club an hr late. With my mood already being salty I wasn't in the mood to drink (imagine that).Even with the special shots of Hennesey Dark going around I just wanted to get the work done, talk to whoever needed to be spoken too and get home.

While waiting for things to be handled I was quickly reminded of why I don't club. All the goods and bad of the party scene were on full display. You had your yummy eye candy, I was being eye sexed but this busty asian chic.(a few of u will laff at that), you had your hood rats which included one group that came with the token whie gurl that had floppy double D's falling out of her dress while grinding on various black men, you had the dirty bird that pulled her skirt up to "drop it fast" never once showing any issue with exposing her baggy panties and ashy legs, you had the "ballers" and celebs of which Ms Steph Lover was looking very nice and you had random people you know (classmates, coworkers,etc) that you haven't seen in years.

Overall I'd rather be in bed getting a massage........don't know if this event will be set up or not.If it does I'll see what the potential profit is from it but oh man was I happy to get home. And even though I'm now running on about 2 hrs of sleep It interesting to see the growth in my social interaction. In spite of the T & A and the interesting looks and stares I was getting it, its' really YOU that makes a party. That's why I love when I get to chill with Mz.J or my trips to Sobe with the fellas. As you get older its more about the people your with then the noise of the venue.

BET AWARDS: How Full is the Cup

With less then 72hrs to completely flip their plans. The unrealistic optimist would expect the perfect MJ Tribute show. The Pessimist would expect more buffoonery and coonery. The realistic expectation was somewhere in the maybe. And that's what it was. Neyo did a great job capturing a fraction of M.J spirit while Tpain, Lil Wayne and Co. And the Un needed Baby Boy re enactment did remind us that this is still BET. But I can live with that.

BET was the guinea pig for award shows. With all the MJ tributes lined up, the the 1st one up fell upon one of the more polarizing networks yet what other station really had more genuine love for M.J then BET? All the other tributes will correct what BET didn't execute as well. Hindsight is 20/20 you know. But we got a chance to show love for one of our own.

Yes, we all have had Mike jokes, myself included ,but when its "game time" how do you present yourself? Are you the wise ass, slicc talker twitterer or do you bring some substance to the table in your words? I say that for anyone that can't take a degree of positivity in the fact that youngest sister Janet shared her thanks and grieved openly with us, then you do better. Don't talk about it be about it. Take the tools you have before you that you use to promote your sexual conquests, boast ya ego, push ya new "hot" mixtape, pretend to be the urban paris hilton or whatever nonsense you clutter the internets with and do something better.

As for me I give a degree of respect to BET. While admitting to some flaws, in a case of giving like this, its many times the thought that counts. I like to think of this cup as 1/2 full.

Tears at this point?I know I had them.......

The Generations Ultimate Man-Child

Idolized by millions yet trapped in a fantasy world of his own.

I'm torn at this moment not because of my thoughts on Michael Jackson, those are pretty straight forward. It's humanity as a whole especially that cyber crowd that has me in "Rant Mode". But I'll address that my next post.



Prior to Friday the last time Mike was even on my mind was during my viewing of the Dreams' new video that JacC'd M.J's look and "Scream" video a little too much.But beyond that was he a pillar of my existence?NO. But just cause "I didn't know him" or "He ain't doing anything for me" or whatever silly ass "I'm too real to care" comments I've heard, that doesn't mean that I/we can't some degree of humanity for the loss of a human life period. Save the Celeb CSI shit cuz it's between Him and God whats ills he has committed against anyone.And last time I checked R.Kelly was caught on tape doing his deed and folk still love him.But I digress.....



Whatever we consider success Mike surpassed it 10 fold. No matter how big Kanye, 50, Beyonce, Jay-Z or anyone else gets, you'll be hard pressed to see another artist have ABC,NBC,CBS,MTV
Inspite of all things, in the end I hope M.J had some degree of peace in his final moments. He's done too much to not at least get that. Even in unconsciousness, I hope he heard the words and prayers of his siblings and parents. I pray that should his place be in heaven that the love and well wishes of those he has touched lift his soul up to a better existence.Unfortunately, as is too often the case, he'll be loved more in death then in life.......
