Obama Is Not To Be Played With!!!!

 

 Obama has the "I wish you WOULD say something else" look on his face. 

President Obama explained his administration's decision to allow as many as 800,000 young illegal immigrants to apply for temporary legal status and work permits in a speech this afternoon in the Rose Garden.
The president was interrupted by reporter Neil Munroe twice, who asked him to defend his assertion that the move is the "right thing" for the country. Obama talked over the reporter but later in the speech addressed him, again asserting that the immigration decision is the right one. Munroe again interrupted Obama. "I didn't ask for an argument," the president said sharply, ending the unusual exchange.

"They are Americans in their hearts, in their minds, in every single way but one--on paper," Obama said of the young illegal immigrants who will be affected by his plan. The sweeping proposal allows immigrants without criminal records who are under 30 years old, entered the country as children, have graduated from a U.S. high school, and can prove they've lived in the country for five consecutive years to apply for temporary legal status and then two-year, renewable work permits. It does not provide them a path to citizenship. In his speech, Obama stressed that the move is "not amnesty," and that he thinks Congress should still pass a broader legalization bill.

What a week.....

This week as been a jumble of financial ups & downs, issues of hurt friends, dealing with once friends turned nuisances and new friends and bonds. An interesting week to say that least but as the Month of Me creeps toward us I'm not mad. There's a calm that comes in weathering storms and being able to look back, smile and keep on with the business at hand without missing a beat. Some things are unfortunate but I think god has a way of helping us sort though the mess and put everyone in the space they need to be. No blood, no harm, no foul.....well some shit was a lil foul but that's not my laundry to deal with. The year 2012 has NOT disappointed in the realm surprises. So whats next....

1/3 Of The Way In........Trouble In Gotham

66 games……how much of a difference is there between 66 & 82? Well, if all other components were consistent to a standard season then it might not be much of a difference, but when you all but eliminate the preseason and training camp then you see a few problems present themselves. I told myself and any one that asked that I wouldn’t look to judge the Knicks much good or bad until they got 20 games into this campaign. Tonight is game 22 and yes the report thus far is a bad as advertised as 8 - 13. I’d give the team a D without hesitation. Now that doesn’t mean things can’t or won’t improve but thus far almost everything that can go bad has. DNP’s due to Injury from Melo & Stat, poor offensive flow w/ no true point guard to direct things. Amare’s room down low is now clogged with Melo & Chandler in the mix and unfortunately Stoudamire’s jump shot has been off through this 1st third of the season. Last year’s standout rookie Laundry Fields had a horrible month as well.

Interestingly enough one of the few “positives” is the Knicks improved defense and aggressive steals numbers. The Knicks haven’t become a defensive force by any means but clearly Tyson Chandler is having an effect in conjunction with the almost 3 steals a game from promising rookie Iman Shumpert.

The Knicks had a chance to take the Atlantic division early, but a surprising start by the 76ers and the resurgence of Boston has the Knicks in 3rd in the division and looking from the outside of the playoff picture. Will Baron Davis help things? I think he can at least stabilize and get things spotted in the proper direction. I honestly feel that a backcourt scorer who shoots at a 40% clip behind the 3 point line is ideally what the Knicks need. They lack spacing and have too many bodies running around without defenders having to honor the long ball. I could stand for a coaching change but hey that's just me......

It's All Human Nature

Sitting back I glance at the television, 40+ inches of HD details makes the images so clear.....so there's no avoiding the vile things airing on networks ranging from ESPN to CNN. The faces of Power, Good, Bad and the Ugly are everywhere.

I observe things. I'm a people watcher 24/7. Those I deal with personally and those I see from a distance. There is a consistency of how power and/or the attempts to gain power effect people. Some folk gain power through their infectious spirit. They stand for something and the force of their will attracts those of a like mind. This can result in the formation of local tribes, cults, religions, government,etc....There does come a point where a leader or a group hit that power ceiling. The ceiling is the point where power is manageable yet still within the checks and balances of the people below. Unfortunately, few people are satisfied with the ceiling. They crash through it showering sharp glass and debris on the people they are supposed to be working with and for.

Billboard of Beautiful Black Child the Face of Anti Abortion Campaign

During Black History month we have the above billboard sparking conversation and outrage. Abortion is a touchy subject as is but I personally do find it a little tasteless a way to get your across. It's very much a scare tactic but I just don't like the way it attempts to villainize those that elect to have abortions. I dont think anyone could deny that there are many that use the procedure as mere birth control but I also think you turn people off to your intended message with such a crass presentation.

And that fact that it is so targeted to just US as black people is another point that I don't like. If it is a call out to "do better" then again we shoot ourselves in the foot by so publicly airing out our business.

Police Seize the Firearms of Heavy Ink President After Online Story

You remember this guy from the post not to long ago that followed the tragic shooting in Arizona. Well it seems the "Boys" got wind to the story's buzz on Comic Alliance and decided to make a move on Mr. Travis Corcoran.

After reading the recent inexcusably irresponsible blog post from Travis Corcoran, the president of the online comics retail store Heavy Ink, lauding the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords in Arizona and encouraging the shooting of other politicians, we recently wrote an editorial condemning his actions and encouraging comics fans to consider whether they wished to continue giving him their business.

We expected some controversy, comments with angry political rhetoric, and blowback from outraged creators, all of which occurred. What we didn't expect? That the police would read our article, and then confiscate all of Corcoran's firearms and ammunition and notify the federal authorities.

Although we did not personally send the information to the authorities, it appears that someone pointed them to our site where they learned about Corcoran's comments, as the Boston Globe reports:

Bongiorno said police found the comment reposted on ComicsAlliance.com in a story that said Corcoran first made the comment in a blog. Bongiorno said Corcoran has since redacted the comments, but police consider the threat to be credible until they can prove otherwise. Police have also contacted federal law enforcement agencies about the comment.

The offending blog post -- and the entirety of Corcoran's blog -- now appears to have been taken down or is otherwise inaccessible. The Boston Herald story notes that Corcoran has not been charged with a crime, although his firearms license has been suspended and a "large amount" of weaponry seized while police investigate his comments and whether they constitute a threat to U.S. members of Congress.
