I can think of no better way to close out the Month of Me then acknowledging the Birthday of my dear friend Evita Robinson. I've said tons about her so I'll keep it simple.

Well this is interesting to wake up to. Business woman on the rise Evita Robinson got a nice Hump Worthy mention over on Clutch Magazine's site. Their talking "Girl Crushes" and I'm not mad.

The Boogie Down Hosts: Domo Arigato Street Festival/Fund Raiser

On a cloudy Saturday afternoon in a garden in the Bronx, the Land of the Rising Sun provided an energy that radiated through all the storm clouds that would eventually open up on the festivities.The Domo Arigato festival jumped off to raise funds for the people of Japan who have REALLY been through it recently. The forces of raw independent Hip Hop, Soul & Dance were on display surrounded by various local vendors with their own tales to tell as to why Japan is so close to their hearts. Our own Evita Robinson was among those involved in the events moving Drt Bgs like weight. Hosted by radio personality Tasty Keish it was a great time for a wonderful cause.

The Greatest Support Needed

I saw this on Evita's FB and knew that the call need to go out. Evita's friend and Jet Set Zero cast mate, Jeremiah recently had fire destroy his home and take the life of his 2 dogs. I had fire ravage my home in the 2nd grade but was fortunate that all important documents, keepsakes and need material could be saved. I couldn't even imagine such a thing now.....

Last night in the Bronx Evita hosted her Fund Raiser Appreciation Event. What started as a low key gathering ended in much progress as the balance of live participants and online support created a great a fantastic result. We topped the $4000 mark to usher in the final week of pledges. Thanks to all who have given to the cause. As Evie has been saying for the past week. "We got this!!!"

In this final lweek please keep in mind the follow info:

• 7 Days Left, to reach at least $5000
• Deadline is May 24th at 11:59PM, EST
• Current people who have pledged can INCREASE their pledge amount through Kickstarter.com, if they choose.

Who's That Calling Me????

When cellphones hit you found every reason to be on it talking to someone.  Just that mobile communicative freedom had you rambling all day. As time passed by it seems that textual communication has you hearing actual voices less and less. In turn actually calling a person and that call being accepted on a consistent basis is a strong sign to the relationship between two people.

With that said, Evita has always kept the technological vs actual communicative balance on point. With the current wave she is riding I know that every time that pic pops on my Blackberry the news will be positive and my day is gonna hit a high point. Today was no different. I received one call today and it was her updating me on business, networking and the powers that be continuing to shine on her. Only 1 call today but hey you know it quality over quantity.

The Return of Wordplay: Evierobbie for Japan.

A couple weeks ago for a small Japanese relief fundraiser in Manhattan Evita gave me a serious flashback moment has she pulled out the pen & pad to share a lil poetry. Poetry is the initial tie that connected me to a young Evita and what helped build the relationship that has evolved into so much. So here she is giving us what Japan meant to her...
