As the roosters crow still to wake up the residents of Barabos it's already clear that this will be a big weekend. The calls for Animekon are coming in as word of the Omega Nexus' arrival spreads across the island. The opportunities are here and I'm ready to maximize them all.

Back in Toronto for my 1st Caribana

I was long overdue but it was well worth it. The jumping, flag waving (I lost 1 of my 3 :( ), the eating and drinking was so what the doctor ordered to get me back in the frame of mind to deal with certain things at hand. Here's some imagery :) I'll definitely be returning to do this again!

West Indian Carnival Documentary

Its Labor Day Weekend so you know what that means in NYC!!!! I'm loading up on Wray & Nephew for my rum punch!!!! To set it off check this new film on the BK West Indian annual event!!!!

Four filmmakers teamed up to produce Below the Brain, an experimental documentary that highlights last year’s Caribbean Carnival in Flatbush, Brooklyn. Following one of the largest and greatly celebrated parades in the United States in a 24-hour time frame, Below the Brain is a visual compilation of the filmmakers’ individual experiences that captures the visuals of any vivacious festivals. The film will be premiered at the BAM Rose Cinema in Brooklyn tonight and will be followed by a week-long theatrical run at Spectacle Theater on the next day where it will also showcase different island-themed films. Vice recently sat with the people behind this film for an interview where they discussed their experiences while shooting the film, and the topic of melancholic Haitian music.

Nas then makes his way to Trenchtown to get in touch with the Jamaican slums while shooting the video for Land of Promise.

Last week I attended a family reunion in St. Croix which marked my 1st time back to any of my home islands in nearly 20 yrs. I had no idea it was that long an absence. In the day to day hustle of getting an education, entering the workforce, personal growth and evolution, it would seem I've overlook a key aspect of my overall make up. I've seen my family on a regular basis as they usually visit the states but this time it was the other way around. It felt go to get back to where I'm from......
