West Indian Carnival Documentary
Its Labor Day Weekend so you know what that means in NYC!!!! I'm loading up on Wray & Nephew for my rum punch!!!! To set it off check this new film on the BK West Indian annual event!!!!
Four filmmakers teamed up to produce Below the Brain, an experimental documentary that highlights last year’s Caribbean Carnival in Flatbush, Brooklyn. Following one of the largest and greatly celebrated parades in the United States in a 24-hour time frame, Below the Brain is a visual compilation of the filmmakers’ individual experiences that captures the visuals of any vivacious festivals. The film will be premiered at the BAM Rose Cinema in Brooklyn tonight and will be followed by a week-long theatrical run at Spectacle Theater on the next day where it will also showcase different island-themed films. Vice recently sat with the people behind this film for an interview where they discussed their experiences while shooting the film, and the topic of melancholic Haitian music.

Things to come...
September starts off with the following for me. Labor Day weekend, Hip Hop Album release Parties, Bright Eye's Birthday celebration and Bachelors party in Atlantic City. These next 3 weeks will give me time to relax, reflect and get ready for the things I wish to set into motion. I'm excited for all of it. This will surely produce some good blog worthy material. Maybe even my own drunken chronicles????

QuicC Austin TX ChecC in....
Well folks it's looking like it'll be a low key Saturday.Well, at least until night time.Things have been relatively calm and relaxing. Last evenings dinner was great receiving a solid A grade from me.Last nights official birthday celebration gets an B/B+ grade from me.Things went pretty well with a few minor hiccups towards the end but excessive amounts of alcohol usually result in that. I'm pissed that it feels colder down here then in New York, but it is what it is. LOL, anyway just checCin' in to touch base for the few that may be curious.

Happy Birthday JiLLZ
The time is here and now!!!!Today it is a celebration of a grand proportions!!!This the born day of my super friend Jillian aka Mz.J aka Jillz aka Ms Goodfellas West aka Mz. South by SouthWest.
I love this person for her constant support, energy and compassion that is the true definition of friendship. Plus she's a drinker just like me. From Arizona to Miami to New York and now Texas we been doing it up and we plan to set the bar even higher once again.
Let me say this is in no uncertain terms. Outside of family this is one of the most important people to me walking this planet and this birthday is going to be reflective of that. She sparked the Operation Improve U plan that we are now nearly a 1/4 done with. And it time to not just celebrate the new direction and focus on change, but to just appreciate those people you have around you.
Once again Happy Birthday Mz.J, You already know what it is so lets get the Patron and the Henny and get to business. IF you don't "GO IN" then don't bother coming out.

I do what I want........
Ok so here's my mind set right now.6 days to my bday and to combat the bullshit that's been poppin up, I'm now officially in birthday celebration mode.6 days of light hearted pre bday enjoyment, giving thanks for another year next Thursday and then another 12 days of celebration. It'll be fun and also very informative. The guy that jumps out the window for everyone else will be a lil selfish a lil self centered you know. The incorrect assumptions, high and mighty attitudes and indirect "blahzay" vibes and the "its all about me" personalities can be kept to y'all selves. It's my time of the year and I plan to recharge and re-energize.All of which will culminate in Austin, TX.
The next 2 1/2 weeks will contain good company, good food, good drink, quality music, love and affection.If you're not willing to add to that simplistic equation then I hope you stay silent.
Yeah I can already feel the vibes.

In my mind.....
Getting in a celebratory mind frame.Next week is the big 28....ok its not so big but hey it's reason to be appreciate.Soooo my mind is slipping into mental gift wish list mood. I'm late on the Sean John "I am King" fragrance, so I have to try it. I already got a lil pre-styling from my "long distance, down south but always up north" fashion guru so looking forward to trying a new look out. It'll mos def work in NY. I'll have to see what the Texas weather is like. Might just play it real easy down there as far as clothing goes. Just feeling warm air will be good to me. I gotta fight the urge to cop another watch. I just laid down my new budget so I can't do the recCless watch buying anymore.....we'll see about that, birthdays do only come once a year.

Happy Birthday Dad!!!!
I'm blessed. Today my dad turns 60 and still is healthy, mobile and active. He's my hero, bluprint and role model as to what a real man is supposed to be. 60 yrs on this earth, 30 faithful years of marriage and 27(about to 28)yrs of fatherhood.I can never say enough "thank you's".Happy Birthday Dad.
