Maybe Girls Do Run The World......

So this past week was a beautiful one for my ladies. Upon my return from vacation I hit the Internets to push Elisha Jade's co hosting gig with Hot 97's DJ Juanyto on the Monday Night Action.

Then Tuesday it was a lil socializing as Raven returned to the party scene at a new venue for her Off the Wall party. Great music, set the tone for a mixture of hip hop lovers, insiders and dancers to mingle and enjoy.

Humpday, then marked the 1st special edition of Menage a Talks that featured the T.Dot to UK(via NY) link up of Goddess I and Elisha Jade. In the meanwhile everyone's favorite world traveler Evita Robinson was on the grind preparing to serve up so much international favor that I may be almost as excited as she is to see it reach the masses.
Evie preparing the next phase of Nomadness
To round out the work week Raven spoke with Hip Hop juggernaut Jean Grae for her weekly Hip Hop Queens feature on Chuck D's AndYouDontStop Radio

The women continue to deliver and I'm blessed to be able to witness and aid in whatever small way I can.

BET'S My Mic Sounds Nice: A Truth About Women & Hip Hop

Last night BET debuted a long over due program to discuss the issue facing females in the Hip Hop game. It was a great presentation and I can only pray we get a continued representation of the female M.C like this.

Reader Question: G.F vs B.F

"If you are in a very serious relationship what do you do if your girlfriend has an issue with your best female friend. What if as a part of continuing the relationship she requests that you no longer associate with your friend. What do you do?"

I can most definitely relate to this topic. It may be degrees of insecurity or simply claiming "her territory" but I think as people we all have at times felt a certain way about people how have different or potentially closer relationships to people we are close to then we do. A relationship touches on many levels, mental, physical, social, etc,etc...BUT one thing that can never be made up is time. Now let me explain.

I have female friends that I am very close with. Close in a way that I've been their for the triumphs and the tears. I hear the questions that others never will. Many of these friendship are based over a pretty respectable period of time. Throw a girl friend into the mix and this is what I get...a person who ideally wants to be my sun, moon and stars and want s no other person in the solar system with her. But that's nearly impossible with me.

A serious relationship will warrant changes in how I interact with my female friends and that is fine. For example, any of my lady friends that have partners I do not contact by phone or text after 10pm. It's just a respect thing and I don't want to interrupt anything. Similarly a partner of mine would have to understand that our growing interaction does not now neutralize 8,9,10 years of friendship and earned trust that my friend has. And truthfully any friend of mine would have no problem adjusting me and my relationship.

I know many a female that evaporates into thee air once a man comes into the picture. While I understand the need to get to know a new person, I have always maintained that my friends have earned too much of my respect to be cast aside when a new face enters the picture. That's just me. The maturity level of the people I interact with should allow for such an issue to be handled pretty easily.

Hypothetically, if such an ultimatum was made to me I may very well end the relationship or at least put a serious pause on things. The Issue would have to be dealt with and examined from a number of areas. Why is this an issue? Why is your suggest solution the most extreme of options?

I don't react well to people forcing control over me in that manner......

Comes With The Territory?

I forget where I saw it but it was an interesting statement about dealing with females. It can be friends, lovers, good friends whatever, but it was stated that the mood swings or emotional changes of women need to be assumed and accepted by men and treated as something that comes with the terriotory. I’ve seen many of my guys have fits trying to deal with a female feelings and come out just looking totally confused. I wonder if in the midst of it all a woman can admit to herself that “what I’m saying really ain’t making any sense.”

I consider females to be much smarter then guys in the mental/emotional game playing department. Not playing games in a bad way but that’s just how things are. All of life is a game to me but in regards to this acceptance of woman’s emotional flux it just makes me wonder. Do ladies act out just cuz they know they can? Have you ever been in a situation that logically you were losing BUT through the use a lil womanly ploy you flipped things in your favor?

Does it really matter???

I'm sure most of u female readers have this image saved, bookmarked and as ya desktop or screen saver already. But I'm just throwing it out there along with this quotes from Sista Toldja.

Someone stated on Twitter yesterday: "Isn't it likely that Reggie was chosen by Black women to be on the cover of Essence?" I'd say absolutely. And those sisters made a choice that many of us don't agree with. I'm not angry, I'm let down. R. Kelly on the cover would be despicable. This is merely...disappointing.

I look to Essence to feel affirmed and inspired. The world outside is doing a fine job at telling me that Black women are not always 'in vogue'. And while I expect Essence to print stories that do call my attention to the more painful aspects of Black female life, I'd rather the men we drool over in between the pages of Essence could at least be the men who are more likely to lust after us back. Even if it's just a fantasy.

So do the personal social behaviors and attitudes of the people presented for you to "admire" affect your attraction level to them? Does Reggie being with a non black woman turn you off from him? Just curious as I've heard a few people express views on this.
