 Obama has the "I wish you WOULD say something else" look on his face. 

President Obama explained his administration's decision to allow as many as 800,000 young illegal immigrants to apply for temporary legal status and work permits in a speech this afternoon in the Rose Garden.
The president was interrupted by reporter Neil Munroe twice, who asked him to defend his assertion that the move is the "right thing" for the country. Obama talked over the reporter but later in the speech addressed him, again asserting that the immigration decision is the right one. Munroe again interrupted Obama. "I didn't ask for an argument," the president said sharply, ending the unusual exchange.

"They are Americans in their hearts, in their minds, in every single way but one--on paper," Obama said of the young illegal immigrants who will be affected by his plan. The sweeping proposal allows immigrants without criminal records who are under 30 years old, entered the country as children, have graduated from a U.S. high school, and can prove they've lived in the country for five consecutive years to apply for temporary legal status and then two-year, renewable work permits. It does not provide them a path to citizenship. In his speech, Obama stressed that the move is "not amnesty," and that he thinks Congress should still pass a broader legalization bill.

I've seen this on a few sites condemning Obama as Satan again, so I looked into it and came across some clarity as to what this actually means within the bill itself.

He did so after he’d been assured by co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski that the show had a seven-second delay in effect and that he should “take a chance.”

Obama on Vick: Good Message or Wasted Time????

The other day President Obama call Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie to congradulate him on his signing of Mike Vick and giving him a 2nd chance to rebuild his career. According to King, the president said that released prisoners rarely receive a level playing field and that Vick's story could begin to change that. Vick has become perhaps the biggest comeback story in some time and it has been a divisive one as well. I've chatted with a few people with differing views on the matter. Some have felt the President should have better things to do. Other have said it's a positive story of redemption that should be told.

Personally, I need my President to be human. I need to be able to relate to a guy in a way beyond political stance. Sports, music, social issues matter to me, etc, etc.... I don;t know how long this convo between Obama and King lasted. I'm sure technically speaking there were other things Obama could have been doing but I don't want a robot in office. If the President had flown from Thailand just to do this then I may have a different view but I think being able to connect on an everyday man level is an important thing.

Thoughts? Views? Opinions?

Beyond the accomplishments, the process is good for democracy and our democratic processes have been battered and bruised in recent years."

Y'all were kicking him in Year 1.......

....and in year 2 Obama is gettin' it in and making change. He was never the messiah that many were making him out to be but he was never the Anti-Christ either and 1/2 way through his 1st term I can say that I have personally seen his moves improve my family. From the addition adult grants for education that allowed and paid for my moms extra schooling to the overall improvement in the employment situation that gave me my new job, I've seen change.



I just want to hear some positive support to balance everyone's gripes back in 2009.There's still massive work to be done but lets acknowledge whats been done.
