It's a full scale push towards Mrs Carter's new album and the legion of supporters are out in force. We already know who's claimed control on the world and now I've seen the Internets chattering on a song "1 + 1" that is apparently the greatest thing since the last greatest thing Bey put out . You say the funny thing with me is that the more something gets hyped up before I experience it the least liking I am to want to deal with it. Everything today is either platinum or plastic. The digital hype machine is insane.

So by the time I'm hearing about a movie, song or whatever, I'm already put off but the 100th person saying "This song gives me life", "This song is everything", etc,etc,etc......it just seems a bit much. In truth this seems to be a Twitter issue as I use twitter to keep some degree of awareness from those that I follow blog wise. Since I cant access blogs at the office twitter substitutes.

I'm a communication freak on so many levels.  LOL

Not even 48 hrs removed from the Grammy's and the "who is she?" comments are still running rampant online for Esperanza Spalding the Best New Artist Winner that upset many included Pop sensation Justin Beiber. Even Mr. Kanye seemed at the vert least "puzzled" by the results.

Did it ever strike people that 1) Most folk didnt know Drake for the better part of his early career either? and 2) Just maybe the best music isn't always the most commercially successful?

Esperanza Spalding has been grinding, putting out albums and touring for years, Including performances for the President. Just cuz YOU weren't aware of your doesn't devalue what she's done. She was brought to my attention maybe 1 1/2 ago by request of Bright Eyes so it's nice to see for success now.

Take a moment and google to woman. Her work is quality.

In Need of Social Media Training in our Schools

Some may call this loving, a public showing of affection, unbridled romance, crazy in love, puppy love.......I'm not one of those people. A phone....please use it. 

Adjusting to the growing role of the Social Internets

I'm finding my self more and more over saturated with social media. It's a constant balancing act for someone like me who craves up to date information yet has no real desire to know EVERY thought in a friends mind. I was telling someone that no person is 100% likable. In terms of friends, we have people who agree or are similar to us on a majority of the high value points we have or common interests to warrant interaction. But even your friends, hell your family as well think things that if you knew them would turn you off.

In my opinion, before online socializing it was more likely that you wouldn't learn of this negative traits/thoughts/habits because the expressive channels were limited. You had no way to know what was on a friends mind as they sit on the toilet, party in a club or are on a date. Notice these are all examples that don't really need to have a person updating online status' but we all do it or have done it. It adds to overkill if you ask me. Without purposely trying to do so I end up with little formulas for how I deal with things.

In regards to the online world I have ratios for people. The ratio of useless vs useful, insightful vs. generic, interesting vs. stupid, etc,etc,etc....In addition to that anyone that gets on a roll of consecutive posts about the same thing may result in my cutting off my access to them for awhile. It's really nothing personal I'm just picky when it comes to communication. After awhile I say to myself "Ok I get it!!!" It's similar to how BET re runs the BET Awards 15 damn times. Eventually it does get redundant.


But anyway in the end I think we do need balance of how much we put out and how much we take in. I mean whats worst, the fact that I who you had a booty call with last night or the fact that you actually give that information out to the general public?

Age of the Bad Guy

In spite of how many times I've seen Scarface, it's only within the current digital climate that his infamous "Bad Guy" speech is really making sense to me. I mean I knew it's meaning before but the ability to see it on a bigger scale through the advances of technology gives it a greater force.

See, I gotta friend that sends me stuff and recently he's been amusing himself with the antics of Kat Stacks and as he showed me these things and I looked around twitter myself, I noticed that this woman has developed a legitimate following. Well, maybe legit isn't the word but in any case WTF. The moral fiber of society is to a point that ANY fucCery that comes up is championed around and applauded or the high and mighty swoop in to judge.

Cuz very few folk wanna point it at themselves. Speak ya mind. Keep it 100. Keep it real. Until you come across someone that actually knows you. When the laptop goes off and the Iphone is put down what do you do then? Do you feel good about yourself? Do you really support the foolishness? No, its just a mans of concealment.
