Development through Disappointment

So, it's a funny time for me. This summer has brought so much into my life that I've been working towards yet a lot of it was still unexpected in the way it manifested itself. A new way of life is slowly developing and I'm excited at how this can develop. On the flip side there have been a number of things that have happened that have made me pull back into myself and play life much closer to the chest then usual. I don't ask much and try not to bother folk. I move purposefully and with a pretty pure heart. I've had waaaaay too many folk misinterpret my moves or just blatantly react wrong to what I do or say. Now technically I really shouldn't internalize what how others react to me if I know what I'm doing was coming from a good place but the reality of life is that we are social beings we interact with and react to the what people do towards us. Being made to feel a certain kind of way that falls opposite to your intentions hurts. Just imagine holding the door open for someone and as they pass through the doorway they turn around and scream at you for doing it. Yes it's really a problem with them but it still causes a feeling. I'm 32 yet I often get pulled back to that 16 yr old shy guy that folk clowned for being so caring. Some things are just a part of who I am. Please believe there is no apology coming from me on this. I just have to act in kind to what happens to and around me. I dont want to go off of anyone so I'd rather deal with my feelings solely with me than direct a rage moment at someone else. I have too much going on to be derailed in that manner.

Now, to another matter that has eaten at my other the past few weeks....Travel. Since the beginning of the year I've had my travel plans laid out for the year. That was a large % of Nomadness w/ a few "me" trips sprinkled here and there. The main focal points were the RV Tour which was 4 weeks on the road, Barbados and Japan in last August for 2 weeks of lengthy travel for Animekon and Nomadness; and Bali for New Years. The RV tour was a massive success and next year will be even better.

The summer plans were August though ran into an unexpected detour earlier in the summer. Plans that were laid to put me in excellent position for this summer fell through at the last minute and has had me in recovery mode. Picture yourself locking in a great business deal on Thursday, leaving for a weekend away that Friday and getting a call in your hotel that the deal you sealed 24 hrs prior has just been eliminated. That is exactly what happened to me. It set off a chain reaction that in the end cost me the trips I truly WANTED to take. At the time of this writing Animekon is over in Barbados which I didn't attend and what 99% of people don't know till now is that I wont be making it to Japan with my Tribe either. It wouldn't be a responsible move for me to force this and believe me I considered it heavily. In the midst of the scramble to pick up the professional pieces I did essentially stumble into new business that will lead to many good things, but the transition period just didn't leave me enough time to pull off Japan in an efficient manner.

I cant begin to express how much this is tearing at me. Before there was a Tribe people that grew up with me knew how long Japan has been on my personal Radar. This is going to be a hellish week for me internally as I wish my fellow tribe members well while feeling the sting of what I'm missing. I believe everything happens for a reason but I'm still searching for why things played out for me the way they did. It's not my way to complain publicly so that is why I'm venting her on the Blvd since I know only a handful of folk will actually view this vs putting this on Facebook in its entirety. This one hurts.....a lot. It'll be motivation for future moves but in this moment its just a twisting in my stomach that I'll have to work through. Hopefully Bali has a few tricks in store for me at ease my feelings over missing my 1st travel to Asia.

Gotta play the cards your dealt....good, bad & ugly.....

No One Way To Success....

I can't remember when a day has gone by that business thoughts haven't filled my mind. It's the core of what I'm focused on and where I what to be. Be it within the Nomadness Tribe, The Omega Nexus or other side ventures I've been blessed to be introduced to a number of ways to make business work. I'm proud to be a part of the next era of transitional young business folk. We're a group breaking free from the belief that the path to success and is only attainable via the road though college degrees and 9-5 jobs. Now while many have come to detest this ideology I make sure not to get to a point of speaking down on those that do pursue this way and who generally like it. As the number of entrepreneurs in my circle increases I often remind folks that not everyone is you. Not everyone is supposed to create and run their own business.

For as many people as I know doing these new exciting things professionally, I know just as many that are perfectly happy with a 9-5 in a field they like and rising their family. We need to be sure not to speak in a condescending manner or indirectly shame those that aren't doing what we do. They are often our biggest supporters. Many speak on society and use terms like "sheep" when in truth many of us come from "sheep" ourselves. They are the parents that came to the U.S and built the life that produced this generation of trend setters, often with multiple 9-5/mainstream jobs.  That's the balance we need. Creators of all kinds and consumers to support them.

I feel that your drive and goals should define you. Yet understand that those goals and how you go about getting them only apply to you. There are many ways to get it. There is no 1 definition of business these days and more importantly there are many, many roads to happiness.  

Make A Decision......

Let's get right to it. I'm back and I see not a lot has changed. That's cool because I'm definitely charged up and ready to make things happen with or without folks. I told myself earlier in the year that I wasn't going into the summer wasting energy on those that 100% locked in with me. In truth it's not a hard thing to do but apparently its harder for others then I would have expected. Say what mean and mean what you say. What do you stand for? What are you working towards? These are all questions I've asked before. For the first 5-6 months of the year I've watched. I've observed. Who's just talking, who's just trying to get by without putting in some work? I see it and know who is who. I'm forgiving by nature but time is rolling on and objectives have to be met. People will get left behind unfortunately. Not because I want to but because I have to.

A question was given to me to apply to those I keep in my circle. If I treated them how they treat me would they want me as their friend? It's all pretty simple yet folk make it so complex. Lapses of communication, broken agreements....if we were doing business it would be grounds to void a contract but because its friendship the b.s is cool? No, no it is not.....

Let's see who's gonna be in the mix for these 2013 Summer days :) I want everyone I care about on board but it doesnt seem like that is going to happen....

Mission Accomplished.......Almost

The students have been addressed, the cities are been visited and now all that's left are the final loose ends to tie up before returning home. It's been a wild month. I'm ready for the next phase of my life. Let's keep this progression going. People, places and all things are up for review. There's no room for anything not moving forward.

Simple Yet So OverLooked

Time & Money

As you get older things get much more straight forward, much more black and white. You get a clear understanding of people and what they are about. Good, Bad & Ugly you see it and it's on you to deal with it because odds aren't in your favor of them changing.

It sucks when folk can get their money up for alcohol & drugs not remain silent as you try to bring positive direction to the people. Oh well, this just aint for everyone. I'll never speak on everything I see, hear and know but be clear that I'm aware.....I'm always aware.

Evolution Taking Place.....

So many things I'm seeing. So much I have to deal with in various fashions. Some matters get the direct approach while others require a fall back and observe, almost to the point of total disinterest. I take in the info hoping it won't require action from me later on. I so understand why they say ignorance is bliss. Knowing too much can be a burden at times.......but I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm made for this.

Training My Eyes For New Vision

What seems to be the easiest path often isn't because it's cluttered with tons of people pursuing the same mundane goal. The road to greater achievement usually has far less runners on the road. Less competition due to the imposed belief that the task is too hard.

I like this thinking. And I see the perfect opportunity to apply this higher heights targeting concept.

Black Friday, A Different Day But Same Agenda. I'm Cool w/ It

Am I bothered by Black Friday? Nope not at all. It was ok to buy sneakers in May right?  No uproar when people blow that tax refund money on a new flat screen or laptop. If capitalism didnt make us blink any other time in the year (besides Valentine's Day, which folk love to rant about as well) then Black Friday is fine with me. This is America, making money is what most things are about.

 I say instead of disingenuous commentary. Control the  power of your dollar and support businesses you actually believe in.

Looking Back on the Nomadness Travel Tribe 1st Anniversary Weekend

I'm a New Yorker. My heart pumps pure NY Blue and I've never apologized for it. The vast majority of things and people that I love are here. While dipping out for a vacation is always cool. I never lost sleep over the idea of "needing" to travel. As my business plans evolved they kind of pointed me in the direction of broader thinking and planning. This coincided with Evita Robinson's creation of the Nomadness Travel Tribe. This is a international community that works as backbone to much of the projects under Evie's Nomadness brand. She invited me in and early on I just stood back and watched. I took note of the world hoppers and respected their way of life but wasn't pressed to "be like them". If there's one thing about me due to a number of things I've been through is that I'm confident in who I am so it took some time but the want to branch out and travel got me too.

Not long into the existence of the Tribe Evita extended an offer to me to be a part of her inner circle, The High Council. Regardless of the fact that I may never have the most passport stamps in the world I'm always down to support Evita's work. From the point we've been laying down the foundation of what we have now.
Roughly a year later we're celebrating an anniversary. Proudly boasting 3300+ members worldwide, Nearly $13K raised independently via a 2 month kickstarter campaign, trips around the world, youth programs and so much more. To see dreams take form on the physical plane is an amazing thing. In spite of a number of set backs and lessons along the way this past weekend proved so much of what Evita has created is going exceedingly well, and all those late night convos, the questions and choices she'd bounce off me are moving in the proper direction.

Bajan Beaches, Nerd Moments and Dream Revitalization!

I'm officially back from an extended weekend in Barbados with the Omega Nexus Team. We kicked off our "Home Town" presentation in Ascended: The Omega Nexus at AnimeKon 2012 and it was a success on so many levels. We sold out of all of our books as the demand of the crowd would not let up.

The people loved the idea,concept and wanted more. When you're told every reason why folk wouldn't be into a book, what we saw this weekend was very inspiring. Not just in regards to our project but the level of talent and creativity caught me off guard for this genre. Ideas are already swirling around our heads for next years convention. The goal is make sure EVERYONE in attendance knows who we are.....

Being that it was my first time in Barbados I did a bit of sight seeing to take in the beautiful beaches. The crystal clear water was amazing and needs to be a larger part of my regular life routine. It was nice to see the Reece brothers back in their natural environment. The swell up of positive energy really did the job to recharge the guys for the mission ahead. The Omega Nexus has been a part of my life nearly 20 yrs and to see it grow, evolve and reach others with such positive reviews is that proof that you need to know the path you are on is the right one.


 

Paradise and Opportunity.....

As the roosters crow still to wake up the residents of Barabos it's already clear that this will be a big weekend. The calls for Animekon are coming in as word of the Omega Nexus' arrival spreads across the island. The opportunities are here and I'm ready to maximize them all.
